What happened to the Silenced weapons? And will they be back in the future?

Title says it all.

I don’t think there were any in the first place, although since I didn’t play CB, I can’t be 100% sure on that. I believe the Steldbast had a silencer on its image but was removed because there really wasn’t any silencer in the game for it.

I’m sure it’s been mentioned in threads about having silencers, but considering how up front and in your face the gameplay is, a silencer seems kind of redundant.

Oh well. But I did managed to find Selbstadt .40 and MP400’s silenced variant via console commands, in an offline server. They are a bit glitchy though.

What’s the point exactly? You don’t really show up on the map for firing, or if you do, I’ve not been paying it much attention.

A lot of players ignore the mini map or remove it from their HUD entirely. There could be a benefit from reduced sound signature though. Would obviously need to change weapon stats for balance if it was an option for existing weapons. Would prefer to see it introduced as a permanent attachment on a new weapon.

Weapon discussion should probably be in “Weapon Discussion” though.

There really isn’t a place in the game for silencers. If the game was like Battlefield where there were actual bullet physics and the maps were large enough for the distance from your target to matter, they might work. But silencers don’t really ‘silence’ guns, they just suppress the sound. In real life, this matters when firing from hundreds of meters away. But in a close range game like DB, they’re sort of pointless.

If we had bullet physics, I could see more use for them. Alternatively, sniper rifles could be made extremely loud, so you can hear them from almost anywhere on the map. Then we can give snipers a silencer to cut the noise level way down and remove their bullet trail, but there needs to be a draw back. Compensating bullet physics is usually the draw back, but in DB, maybe they could incur a 20 HP penalty in exchange for the added stealthiness.

I think it’d be cool as an augment and not a permanent part of specific weapons. I’d love to see augments that are for weapon attachments. Like a ACOG scope on the burst rifles and the Deriss.

Eh, silenced weapon’s are not gonna be useful. It’s not like you can accurately and reliably predict something off of weapon sounds anyway since DB’s sound system is fucked and all.

They’re not coming back. Devs confirmed it.

Could you post a link to it if possible? That’d be great, thanks!

What’s a minimap?

And agreed on location. Moved. Please put posts in the appropriate sub-forum. Tag a mod if you have questions on location.

Raziel said that silencers won’t be returning in a stream after people asked about the Aimee artwork that had a DE with silencer at the beginning of ReV.

Such a shame, I usually do better with silenced weapons in games (dunno why)

i see that you guys dont know what silencer do, makes the blow more silent, not ultra silent, just reduces the blow soo its more healthy for your ears… but i guess games don’t care

and what would be the point of that?
