I don’t believe Nexon means any ill will to any one from the SA region. They have stated they are testing these server locations which means to me that things can still change and probably will at some point. As to the direction of change you guess is as good as mine. I do believe they are going to try to accommodate as many people as they can. i would wait and see what happens but that is just me.
What happened to South AM servers?

The game’s code also adds latency, for example, when I play Payday 2 with my friends I get around 40-60 ping, and when I ping them directly I can get as low as 12 ping with a friend from another state. We both have fiber optic connections, by the way.
game’s code doesn’t add latency, routing does, your data packets doesn’t flow the same way in the game as it does in the normal cmd ping. Different ISP’s have different ping because of different routing paths.
I know about routing, I was just trying to rationalize why would he have higher pings on LAN than I do online, and the only reason can be the game itself or the hardware he has on his house/apartment/building adding latency.
Anyway, please stop going off-topic, I’m still waiting for an official answer to this (even though it seems they don’t really care).
You can ping your friend who is on the same ISP and geographically close and have a super low ping. You can then ping a server that is geographically close but not on the same ISP and you’ll probably have a higher ping but still OK. Then if you ping an SA server that is located in Miami, USA, you are not geographically close and your packet has to get through multiple routers and ISPs. So you will have a lot of latency. That has nothing to do with the games “code”. This will all happen from a command prompt with no game turned on if you ping each IP individually. It’s basic physics and networking as the root cause.
I don’t know why SA servers are in Miami. It sucks for us too because we get a lot of high ping SA players on US East servers. And some of them have a high likelyhood of dropping packets or ping rubberbanding which can result in spotty play for everyone.

I was not even talking about Dirty Bomb when I said that, so please, don’t mix things up. As I said, if you have read the original post that I replied to, that guy was saying he had higher ping playing with someone “on the same building” (which I interpreted as him playing on LAN) than I do online, so I said the only reason can be the game itself or the hardware in his “building” adding ping (unless he meant on the same building but actually playing online, then of course the reason is the routing, because obviously there is literally no external routing if you connect one PC directly to another on LAN, but there is online, even if you are playing with a neighbor).
I know pretty well that the reason SA has bad ping on the “South AM” servers is because it’s located in the US. What I’m saying is that it makes no sense at all, and the reasoning behind it given by RazielWarmonic is pretty nonsensical as well.
they’re not going to give you a reasonable (to you) answer, I tried to tell you. I’m afraid accountants not gamers decide many things.
Raziel Warmonic is the Nexon Community Manager for Dirty Bomb. She provides a bridge of communication between the players of DB and the Nexon Company. After issues about the SA servers were reported from us the play base. She reported them to Nexon the company. After some discussion, Nexon the company decided to issue a statement which she reported back to us.
I think Nail understands how currently the rules of business work. Thinking more on what they have stated might be a good since I think it also explains the apparent lack of reasoning. While it may not make sense to some of us there is reasoning behind the choices that have been made. Sadly the world of business may not be as free as people think.

I did not mix up anything. You quite clearly said what you said. I was making sure we were all on the same page so that there are no mix-ups.
Raz already made a post with the status of the SA servers. I’m sorry if it’s not what you want to hear
I’d be pretty annoyed if I was in your shoes too. I’m closing this thread as the question has been answered.
