What guns do you use and why?

(Runeforce) #21

Light: CARB-9/Belgo. The CARB-9, with extended drum magazine, packs the perfect spray-to-hit ratio up close, so I usually sneak up upon them and unload my 60 rounds. The Belgo, with extended magazine and silencer, is the perfect finisher, should they survive the first 60 rounds of my CARB-9.

Medium: Why anyone would use this bodytype at all, is beyond me.

Heavy: Chinzor/Mossington Shotgun. The Chinzor, with extended magazine, is a killer weapon. You can pretty much shoot continuously in a sustained period of time, clearing out entire rooms without the need to reload. If the Gotlung is the ETQW equivalent of the Hyperblaster, with the high damage pr. second, but huge spread after sustained fire and high spinup time (which ofc. can be negotiated by spinning up, but thereby loosing mobility), the Chinzor is the ETQW equivalent of the GPMG with sligthly lower dps, low spread under sustained fire, no spinup time and dead accurate while crouching. And should you by any chance run out of loaded rounds, you usually see overconfidence from the enemy comming storming at you, this is when you pull out your Speed Sling equipped Mossington Shotgun and…KAABOOOOM…send them flying through the air. :oppressor:

Good stuff!

Heavy

Primary:
Maximus: Good accuracy for a heavy weapon
EZnade: Best weapon the heavy has

Secondary:
Euston: Best close range assault rifle. Also has the fastest swap rate.

Medium

Primary:
Rett: Best overall assault rifle
FRKN: Great burst rifle

Secondary:
Tampa: Best panic weapon, with fastest swap

Light

Primary:
Galactic: Most bullets per a magazine
Kross: Best overall. Most bullets overall

Secondary:
Sea Eagle: IMO still one of the best pistols
Light Builds: CARB-9/Belgo
CARB-9 is a good all around weapon though the accuracy drops pretty steeply at longer ranges. And as burawura mentions, the Belgo makes a great secondary weapon because more SMGs is never a bad thing.

Medium Builds: Gerund/CARB-9
I use the underslung grenade launcher since I hate throwing grenades and I find the Gerund much more accurate than the CARB-9 at a distance as long as I only fire in short bursts. Full auto with the Gerund is useless, even in close quarters.

Heavy Build: Gotlung/CARB-9
I don’t think I need to explain why I use the Gotlung. Do I?
CARB-9: Silencer, Adjusted Iron Sights, Front Grip, Duct-Taped Magazine

Belgo: Silencer, Adjusted Iron Sights, Speed Holster

Gerund: Silencer, Adjusted Iron Sights, Underslung Grenade Launcher, Duct-Taped Magazine

Silencer - I’ve encountered enough enemies (human and bot) that don’t have Combat Intuition. It’s especially on those people when shooting from cover, a distance, or Downed Fire.

Adjusted Iron Sights - I don’t like the zoom-in effect of the normal Iron Sights, the Red Dot Sights, or Scope. It was fine for ET:QW (I love sniping people with my Scoped Assault Rifle) because the maps were so big. While I’ve seen people snipe to good effect in Brink there are better weapons than the ones I use for that.

Underslung Grenade Launcher - Since I hate cooking/throwing grenades (it’s just not my play style) once I unlocked this weapon mod it won me over immediately. It’s what prompted me to try a main weapon other than the CARB-9. (Up to that point I had the Fallout pre-order CARB-9 as the main weapon for all my characters.)

Front Grip, Speed Hostler, and Duct-Taped Magazine - I like anything that gives me more stability and anything that increases the speed of interactions with my weapon.

Last night I got into some matches with Oz, Muters, digitalzero, monogenes, and a couple of others where we were rolling the AI so bad, we decided to mix it up and try out different weapon combos. (Ritchie/Caesar only on CC was hilarious)

The Duck-Hunt setup (Hjammerdiem & Mossington) is crazy powerful, and wicked fun. Not much good in open space, but in any map (or sections of a map) that are CQC… devastating. Absolutely devastating.

I think I might just run that setup any time Founders’ Tower or Labs is the map at hand (since they are predominantly CQC in nature).

Only Light Bodytype

Primary Carb 9 with Drum Magazine and Bajonette

Second : belgo or Tokamak Pistol

i Have with this combination the best Kill/Death Ratio…only the ironsight of Carb are tricky…

greetz fzl:tongue:

I just started rolling Heavy and I must say, I’m definitely sold. I’ll just put my main loadouts. I like to change up a bit. Also, having a grip and muzzle break on PS3 is mandatory for me. On PC, I usually take it off.

Heavy
Chinzor w/ High-Cap
Drognav w/ COGA/Muzzle Break

Medium CQB (Maps like Reactor and Container City)
Euston w/ High-Cap/Adjusted Sights/Grip/Muzzle Break
CARB-9 w/ High-Cap/Adjusted Sights/Speed Sling/Muzzle Break

Medium Sniper (Maps like Security Tower and Resort)
Barnett w/ Snoop
Sea Eagle w/ Muzzle Break/High Cap/Speed

I haven’t been playing Light, so none, but it’ll probably be a CARB-9 and Belgo MP.

(Hot-Wire) #27

Why use a Drognav on your heavy? The Rokstedi is better in everyway, but damage output… and even then it only takes 1 bullet more.

(Zarel) #28

Rhett and Galactic.

I like Rhett’s balance(even though not truly catered) in accuracy and firepower, unlike the other AR’s that solely specializes on one advantage (ex. Euston, inaccurate but powerful; Gerund, accurate but not enough firepower).

Then Galactic because, yeah, just as Tom12121112 said, it also feels right for me as a panic-hip shooting weapon, my kind of preferred backup weapon.

(Jimmy James) #29

Switched out the Silencer on my Gerund for a Muzzle Break just to check it out and now I’m using the Muzzle Break. The stability increase, although it looks minor in the weapon mod menu, is very noticeable, especially when firing at targets at a distance.

I think the Silencer is still good for the CARB-9 and Belgo, but I now use Muzzle Break on all my Gerunds.

The Rokstedi has 0.4 accuracy compared to the Drognav at 0.1. It’s really noticeable to me when I put a COGA on the Rokstedi. Also, the Drognav is a one-shot kill in the face against Lights and unbuffed Mediums, especially with Improved Weapon Buff.

Of course, DenKirson has not updated it since May, but I looked over patch notes and the Rokstedi and Drognav haven’t been changed.

Also, I think I’m replacing my Chinzor/Mossington with the Chinzor/Tampa when I’m on my PS3. Holy crap, I racked up so much kills with them. I was surprised with the Tampa.

(morguen87) #31

I’ve been experimenting a lot since the weapon patch and I’ve been playing mostly as either light or heavy and trying out just about weapon combination I can think of. I keep coming back to medium with the Carb and the Galactic though. Despite the nerf, the Carb is still a great primary weapon and being able to use the Galactic as a secondary is worth being a medium in my opinion. Having a secondary weapon that holds 90 in a magazine can really make the difference between life and death when you need to switch after your primary runs dry. If you have to reload both weapons while there are still bad guys around you’re as good as dead.

(SakuyaFM) #32

The CARB is actually still accurate on ironsights.

I’ve been thinking of rolling double SMG, a combination of Bulpdaun - Tampa - CARB-9. I see no point in running ARs unless it’s the Euston/Rokstedi/Gerund with COGA. Yes, Gerund. Statistically, it has the best accuracy for ARs at 0.2. It’s only offset by recoil and lower damage than the Rokstedi.

I’m still confused as to what Range does. I don’t think there’s any damage falloff in the game.

I think it has more to do with spread vs. distance in Brink instead of damage falloff. Probably to compensate for the focus on close quarters combat compared to the ET titles.

(Nexolate) #34

There is damage falloff, it’s just not quite as apparent with the higher damage rifles.

yep. if you try to shoot extreme distances with the rokstedi you can feel it a little, but it should never be a determining factor in what gun you pick because there is more than enough range on any gun to fit that particular guns purpose.

updated loadout:

still a medium only, but i run a rhett with muzzle break, standard mag, cugone sight, and front grip
or
rokstedi with muzzle break, cugone, and standard mag

along side of

tampa with standard mag, iron sights, front grip, muzzle break.

(SakuyaFM) #36

I’m probably gonna try my guns with no muzzle attachments later and see if there’s an improvement.

(Tom12121112) #37

they are going to kick like a mule, decreasing your hit percentage; thus negating the range improvement you earned by removing them.

(SakuyaFM) #38

Yep.

Just tested with the Rokstedi and Bulpdaun. Considerable recoil increase. Well, I guess I’m sticking to Bulpdaun - Tampa - CARB dual SMG on Mediums.

(Stimson) #39

I use a Bulpdaun with a red dot and a front grip, you can burst fire it for good accuracy and power plus with ext. mag the 40 round clip works well, then i have a Drognav for long range because its fun to be at the far end and i rarely get hit because to be honest the other guns in Brink cant compete in terms of range and accuracy for long range.

(cptincognito) #40

Love the EZ-nade for breaking through entrenched defenders, or stopping the bot.

Hjammerdeim shotgun feels amazing once you have the rhythm down

I’ve gravitated more towards the Galactic than the ever popular carb-9, more ammo for my crap aim?

I use the FR3KN and I don’t even know why, i kind of hate the barrel climb.

A great way to try out weapons is the tower defense challenge. Use the command post and switch weapons instead of reloading- do it as a heavy and try em all.
