What exactly puts you on the radar?

(Mustkunstn1k) #1

I’ve heard many versions of how you can appear on the enemy radar. I assume shooting an unsilenced weapon is the most obvious one? Some people have also said that you can even appear if you are just sprinting.

Today I learned that if your teammate sees an enemy he will appear on the radar too.

And what about that interrogation? Does it still make every single enemy appear on the radar for 30 seconds? And without the radar lagging? Do disguised people appear with that too?

What abilities are there to prevent appearing on the radar?

I realise that we might not know about a lot of this, but if someone is more informed then let your voice be heard.

interrogation, if someone spot you, or if you fire (prevented with a silencer) or are sprinting (there’s an universal ability to prevent being spotted while sprinting but i don’t remember its name) close to an enemy. I’m probably forgetting something though.

Hmm, I wonder how close you have to sprint for the radar to activate. Otherwise it’s pretty much a must-need ability and with this implemented we could pretty much say that the game has 19 abilities, lol.

A good portfolio.

Yeah, without knowing the details I would say it is pretty likely to be a must have ability.

I don’t think most heavies would particularly care about that.

I don’t think it’s sprinting per se
But rather the loudness of your shoes hitting the ground that alerts the enemy to your presence
Perhaps wear some plimsolls and use the tread softly ability

Ugh, I hate games with radar. Makes the game too easy, and lessens the amount of awareness a player needs.

What?? Sprint will give you away period, unless you have the silent running ability in use.

Silent Running is a Universal Ability that when selected as an active ability, allows the player to move silently, as the name suggests. The character’s footsteps and clothing will make no audible noise, and their position will not be displayed on an enemy combatants RADAR map as long as there is no direct line of sight to the player and the player doesn’t fire a weapon.

Care? Hell, they’ll stomp out the beat of everyone of Antonio Vevaladi’s compostions for 40 nights to get half a chance to rev up their slaughterin’ gun

Have to agree with that. Easy mode.

  1. Firing your weapon: Counter, use silencer.
  2. Sprinting near an enemy: Counter, don’t sprint or use silent running perk.
  3. By being spotted by an enemy. In Brink, spotting is automatic (don’t need to press a button). Counter: Kill anyone who looks at you.
  4. The operative class can “interrogate” a downed enemy player. At that time all enemy players show up on your player’s mini-maps for a set period of time (something like 10 seconds).

The HUD video covers this. This thread also covers it well.
