I’ve been trying to figure it out, but I can’t find the official explanation anywhere. I’m wondering if it’s worth sacrificing for stability with muzzle brakes.
What does "range" do exactly?
A better explanation would be that there is a damage falloff system in place that makes bullets deal less damage the farther you are from the target. The greater the Range rating, the larger the distance before damage falloff starts taking effect.

Thanks for clearing that up for me. I think I will continue to use the muzzle brakes, cause I prefer stability over long range power.
how come it still takes 2-3 body shots to drop someone with a drognav from essentially point blank range?
Basically I believe that while damage decreases for weapons if you are firing at a target outside their “maximum range” the reverse is not true. Damage does not increase with closeness unless you were previously outside the weapon’s functioning range; a good way to see this is with a shotgun. It’s not that the damage increases when you are closer it’s just that the damage drop off occurs pretty quickly in comparison to other weapons. The rifles are basically the reverse of the shotgun scenario. Since the Draugnov has a very high range there is little if any damage drop off due to range. Therefore, up close it should appear to still be doing the same damage as at range due to the aforementioned factors.
Although lets face it, this is another one of those things that AI can easily ignore in game
AI can ignore anything in a game. It all depends on what they’re programmed to respond to and what they’re “allowed” to use in their decision making.
Whether they do or not is another thing entirely. Are you trying to insinuate that they’re cheating or wasting their ammo?
