What Covop useless? Are you nuts? I don’t have experience with matches, but for pub it is awesome.

  • It is the sniper class!
  • Blow up the battery ramp, generator, fueldump fences, CP’s. Hell the covop is usefull to do the things quickly instead of the 30sec bomb waiting
  • Spotting mines
  • Getting a uniform to open the doors for the allies. Including fast possible wins on Fueldump, Oasis and the backdoor option in the original battery.

It is the solution to many problems a team can encounter.

Imho, the covop is a very valuable class which I sometimes like to play when there are to many engineers around.

I think the covert ops class was actually a nice addition in W:ET. Looking at the special abilities the class had - throwing a satchel charge, stealing uniforms, sniping, throwing smoke - I would say the first three are quite useful. They are needed for “simple objectives” like destroying the ramp in Battery (and in addition they create the risk of having someone sneak through the back door) and the side gate in Braundorf. I actually like those objectives.

Now you could give the soldiers the ability to throw satchel charges and snipe (like it was in RtCW), however I don’t see a soldier stealing uniforms. Remembering how that changed the dynamic of maps such as battery (not daring to go outside the back gate, cursing on people who did and got their uniform stolen) I would definitely miss that. At the same time, soldiers seem to be a bit bland without the ability to blow stuff up (giving them explosive charges in ET:QW actually made the class comparably useful to the other classes). Removing the covert ops would make the game a bit more straight-forward…

I hope the Recon class (that’s what they call cov ops now) has the same abilities as in W:ET or slightly altered.

This means

  • Stealth&Disguise (either undetectable or with the ability to pick up any gun. Both these things made it really easy to spot a disguised cov ops in W:ET making the class a bit redundant.)

  • An explosive to blow up secondary objectives (Debatable since we could give this to Soldier as well)

  • Disruption. I don’t care how, but imo the main purpose of cov ops/recon should be to disrupt the enemy in all kinds of ways. Being behind their lines, forcing them to deal with him.

  • Sniper rifles for long range support/softening up enemies and/or taking out campers from afar.

Not sure if this has been said but Destructible Environments. Glass that can be blown up and walls that can be shot through, unlike in Brink where the glass you could barely see and was indestructible. More blood and better explosions. More routes to objectives. No invisible barriers.

What I’d like:

General stuff:

  • Nice UI, linux/dedicated servers, mod tools (at least a map tool), serverbrowser ingame, no xpsave after campaign, but stats like in ETQW.

  • Achievements if you want, but just hard tricks (kill someone from the air, backstab 4 players in a row), no stupid “achieve 50000 total xp” things.

  • Gibs when you rocketshoot someone, with the gore noise that comes with it, + blood.

  • Keep anti-spawnkill turrets like in ETQW and Brink.

  • Killing spree, double kill etc noises as an option for pub servers.

Gameplay:

  • ET accuracy, body damage and player speed/movement + S.M.A.R.T movement types (slide, reach places etc) WITHOUT magic button.

  • People CAN shoot when sprinting (with less accuracy obviously).

  • Varied weapons between classes (keep the nade launcher for engineer please).

  • Soldiers and medics should have the more HP.

  • The medic class should have that deployable health/ammo box from ETQW, and should have slow health regeneration.

  • Let the soldiers plant C4 like in ETQW, or this class will be pointless.

  • Don’t put pointless things like mortar, make the MG useable.

  • Keep the knife and grenade as weapon slots, no fast button for these please.

  • Don’t do a slow/useless Cvops like in brink, bring back the satchel for some objectives, keep the smoke grenade. Let this class disguise!

  • Make artillery instant click from the binoculars like in ET, instead of the ETQW system.

  • Try to make the environment varied with secondary routes, and make it destructible (+ put some pointless moveable props in the maps that you can shoot).

I hope that they will remove the player names and all the ugly yellow/blue/white icons ingame . Or atleast give us an option to disable them or a button, for example you press G and the icons pop up for a number of seconds. If you have a fast spaced game those icons will fly around all over the screen.

I find the HUD very well. The names of the opponents are only visible for a few seconds. Hit the indicator I find too dominant. But you are right. It shall be set via a config. Was in ET: QW also available

I want NO TEAMMATE COLLISION. Seriously, that stuff is so annoying. People can block doorways, and nothing is worse than trying to run from a grenade and being unable to do so because your oblivious teammate is standing right behind you. It wasn’t my fault I died. I saw the grenade and knw to take cover, but was unable to do so because of a frustrating engine mechanic that has no right to be there.

dirty bomb needs:

  • no enemy spawn the next room near the objective
  • no 100 bullets to gib the enemy
  • no random bullets
  • replays
  • 1st. person spectating
  • dedicated server
  • lan support
  • good fps
  • good hitboxes
  • server browser
  • good netcode…no unhitable player possible please…maybe restricted netsettings…

Maps should favor offense
I think objectives on maps should be a bit easier to conquer than to defend. Double holds in stopwatch mode make it impossible to determine the better team.

In my experience, most SD maps are easier to defend than to attack on. This is boring and disappointing, because I generally prefer defense but it felt too easy so I ended up attacking most of the time. I loved the matches where I won on defense and had to do my best to get there.

I think it was a blunder to allow both vehicles and deployables to the defending team in ET:QW. It gave defenders too much of an advantage. If I were to have my way, deployables would be for defenders only (exceptions for supply crate), and vehicles for attackers.

I also hope for no vehicles. I was talking about ET:QW. I think Splash Damage were simply impressed by Battlefield games at the time.

I don’t know if you have tried downloading and playing WolfET currently, but there are endless errors OpenGL problems, Guid problems, and whatever else.
Then once you get in, you are now on a search to find a server that isnt just bots playing. Quite annoying. I’d give anything to have the heyday of WolfET back.

What I’d Iove is all the things that made RTCW / WolfET great: gunplay, movement, maps, servers(its sad I have to add that one) and maybe add a couple things that don’t take away the pacing of the game. New tools / devices, like the satchel charge in ET.
Also, I loved that everyone started at 0 when a new map loaded up (unless you played xp save.)

The only thing i want is everything like W:ET!
So classes, maps, i meen everything!

Only things to add are maybe more maps, better graphics, clan system, ingame voice chat and maybe a few customisations for you character!

W:ET is the best fps i ever played and really enjoyed! So please make this a return of this game!
