What do you want from Dirty Bomb web services?

and yes this is needed ! But report is not he best way, just look at BF3, every frustrated player reporting everyone just because they are bad, or just because they don’t like the person in front of them.
1rst spec and admin is still the best way, but a good anticheat is welcome to !
I’ve never seen anyone get banned from a game because of a couple of bad sports reporting them to be spiteful. Generally speaking reporting systems require that a certain amount of unique reports be filed(sometime in a given amount of time) in order for someone to be banned. So, imho, if enough people report someone that it gets them banned they’re 1. doing something shady 2. a total douche or 3. all of the above, in which case the ban is legitmate.
I guess my point is that community involvement in getting rid of cheaters is very important, although I do agree other systems need to be in place as well to help balance everything out.

If there is an app, it would be cool to have an overview of your stats, but a bit overkill.
In battlelog you can pick your loadout in your webbrowser. If the classes in DB have the same complexity and the option to have multiple layouts it would be cool if you could change your layouts from your phone while you play. So when you die or between matches, you can grab your phone and edit your loadouts without having to changes windows on your computer.
Looks like DICE read my mind.

I personally never cared about game stats, to me a better incentive is what you GET from higher ranks/better stats (that is, better abilities, weapons, etc).

I liked the “local” ranking system in ET & ET:QW, I don’t know if it would really make sense of be any fair to turn those “global” (accross matches, that is), but why not? And doh, it’s what Brink does anyway, and that works well.

As for reporting people or kickvoting, I’m generally against it, but as long as there are over 15 voters it can’t really be abused (I mean it can’t be hell like in Left4Dead) so I don’t mind.

Just read through this.

I think a Battlelog type webservice will do fine for DB.
Loadouts, the store, server lists (with clickable links to join), various options and settings etc. would be perfect in my opinion.
All fits right in a Battlelog service, and I think it will make the casual gamer also find it easier to just jump in for a game from a browser.

However, K/D ratio etc isn’t even remotely interesting in a game of this type. Teamplay should be encouraged, not selfish play for mainaining “good” personal stats.

I would love to see this game have a ranking and matchmaking system similar to CSGO.

I have mentioned it before and i’ll provide a little more information and thought on it for those people who may not be familiar with it.

First off, here is a little info on the ranking/matchmaking system. Here is a pic of the actual ranks. The person who wrote the below guide made up his own names for each rank:

I have always disliked counterstrike. I hated the slow pace & camping of the tactical shooter. I respected the learning curve with regard to aiming but never took the time to learn how to get better because so many other things about the game turned me off - until 2 months ago.

Looking for something to play I finally gave counterstrike an honest chance after 10+ years. What got me hooked was the built in competitive matchmaking and ranking system. These two features alone have fueled my new addiction for counterstrike.

After I won my first 10 competitive matches I got placed as Master Guardian 1. Unlike games like Call of Duty, no matter how long I play and grind it out I will never level up if I do not improve. This alone has gotten me watching countless demos, tutorials, and guides, something I have not done since my noob days of ET, striving to get better and achieve the next rank. It’s like a built in pug (competitive pick-up game/scrim) system. I can log in and sign up and find one of these “pugs” within minutes at any time of the day. It’s great.

Currently Master Guardian Elite working on dat badge. Just watched another guide and am hopping on to play the competitive matchmaking feature, trying to rank up. That’s what keeps me coming back to play the game I once hated, time and time again.

You hit the nail on the head here. I couldn’t agree more with you here. These types of matchmaking systems make you just want to play more and more to improve and do better.

I guess a system like this also limits the risk for lower ranked players to find themselves randomly thrown in a game with much better players? That can go a long way in making the game less intimidating to new players, while keeping things challenging for the better ones. Getting continuously pub-stomped gets old very quickly. And owning everything in sight without effort probably gets boring after a while (not that I would know, though…).

Me likes this suggestion

I haven’t seen many poorly matched games, to be honest (out of around 100 matches). There have been many times when someone will rage quit because he/she went 0-5 to start the match and was given a competitive “timeout” according to how many times that person had abandoned a match prior to that (30 mins, 24 hours, 7 day, etc…), and they’ll get stuck with a bot who never does anything constructive, and get stomped as a result.

Ranks are not shown until the end of the match when the final scoreboard shows, and for the most part they are usually balanced for the most part, but nothing is perfect.

ie. If a low rank player gets destroyed by an upper tier player the lower players rank would take much of a hit, and the upper tier player’s rank won’t improve much. But if the lower ranked player kills the upper ranked player 50% of the time, the lower ranked guy will make great gains toward the next rank, while the upper tier will take a big hit.

Read the above guide for a little better understanding.

+1 for matchmaking, I think it will drastically increase popularity of competitive format.

Finally ranked - in game competitive matchmaking with a proper ranking system keeps me coming back -_-

xT will need a similar system to keep me playing it.

(INF3RN0) #92

A solid match making/ranking system is going to make this game stick and I really hope it launches with one. It’s something about making ever player feel like a pro at some point that get’s them addicted. There’s a reason why every CoD player talks up how great they are because the game makes them truly believe it. SC2 and LoL ladders have the same effect and add more to it by giving people titles, stats, and number ranks per category. I constantly overhear people in the most random places talking up their LoL gold status lmao- sometimes I have trouble fathoming how popular that game is. It’s really a beneficial feature apparently. Being able to be paired with people of equal skill though would be a big plus for everyone though, and for many it makes pubbing a worthwhile experience.

(Kiris) #93

100% agree with this. The only way this game will have any success in e-sports will be if they come up with some kind of ranked ladder / queuing system. I don’t care as much about a general ladder for solo play in pubs. I believe ET:QW had that and it didn’t really matter. It was just filled with people that played 24/7, not good players.

(INF3RN0) #94

ETQW just had global rankings and stats that didn’t really mean anything.

(Seanza) #95

I had a cool idea for the EvacZone site that would require some API from you guys for it to work. We want to allow people to enter in their Extraction username into their EvacZone profile, and then for your API to detect when they’re online to show it on their EvacZone profile and ultimately in a specific section of our website.

So, basically, when you come on to the EZ site, you can see who is playing Xt right at that moment. Will this sort of thing be possible?

(prophett) #96

You need a csgo/sc2 ranking system. You only rank if you improve. None of this Level 55 BS because you played the game for 100 hours. For me, there is no sense of achievement there.

(k1ruaa) #97

Actually there is in Sc2 xp which is not related to your improvement (for casuals) but your real ranking depends on your mmr (a statistic you can’t see).

(shaftz0r) #98

just read your post about cd:go above. the thing about the ranking system in a game like cs, is that you’re still playing an extremely lotto, one hit kill, bullets through walls shooter. aka yawn :stuck_out_tongue:

one of the real reasons that works for CS, is because of the mass amount of people around the world that play it. its easy to separate tiers, and have a functional ranking system when you have 50k+ people at any given time

CSGO uses recoil/bullet patterns last I checked. That isn’t really lotto.

(k1ruaa) #100

I think what is mosty needed (and sorry if It has been said already I am not going to read this whole thread again) is a matchmaking system where you can play solo and launch 5v5 with random people or group with 4 of your friends/teamates and play against an other group of friends/teamates.

This would be great in order to do quick matches if you just want to have fun.

Also having private servers to be able to scrim properly would be great.
