In fact, i think burst rifle is balanced.
pls think, if stoker has previous stark ar.
when he do close fight, we have to burned.
and when he do long distance, we willed died easy.
what do you think of the new burst rifles?
If I’m not wrong, they still maintain the highest dps of the rifle class of arms.
I played couple maps as Skyhammer with BR-16 last night and honestly I really don’t understand why people complain so much about it. BR-16 is still very good weapon and I’m not gonna abandon Arty or Kira.
@Envy It 's more difficult to calculate its DPS since RoF refers only to single 3 bullets burst I think. It would be good to know BR’s RPM with included delays between bursts.
I’m probably one of the few who run both BR-16 Fragger and Skyhammer and on that aspect I don’t really mind the delay between each burst. Maybe it shouldn’t be doubled but it’s not too hindering.
The Stark however… Holy Molasses that thing feels so slow and sluggish to use. The delay between each burst is way too high. Doesn’t matter how much damage it can dish out if the enemy is able to hide before you get a second burst in him or if he is able to flank you down.
That happened in Battlefield as well, it’s because you’re clicking faster than the firing rate. So this happens(bad graphic):
Click -> Click -> Click
Shot ----> Shot ----> Shot
Your third click in this example lands in the cooldown phase of the burst. So the gun doesn’t fire.

I’m pretty sure the second click is the one that wouldn’t fire in that marvelous graphic. There’s no grace period, if you click before it’s ready, it won’t fire at all.
Honestly I wouldn’t mind if they removed the click requirement all together so that you can just hold in M1 to fire the bursts at the optimal speed. That completely negates stuff like click macros and binding Fire to the scroll wheel. That, or make the grace period infinite so that you can click (and hold until it fires) immediately after the first click to queue up the second burst, then the third and so on so forth. Sort of like this (color is fucked up, not my fault):
C=Click
H=Click and hold
S=Shot
C-H---H-----H------H-H----
S----S----S----S----S----S
Doesn’t matter if you’re a bit inconsistent with your clicks, you’ll still perform optimal.
The nerf itself is understandable, they want burst rifles to actually be burst rifles, that is fine. If it’s shit now (haven’t tried it) they need to fix that in some other way. I don’t think a BURST rifle should be used as a fully automatic with tighter spread and higher RoF. And I don’t think it’s good game design when you can increase it’s effectiveness with click macros and scroll wheels.
Can someone clarify this to me ?
BR-16 deals 17 damage per shot.
There are 3 rounds in a burst.
3 * 17 = 51 damage
If all are headshots, 51 * 2 = 102 damage.
So on paper, BR-16 can one hit kill mercs with 100 health and below. Is this correct ?
For people who weren’t using mousewheel or similar tricks, this seems like a straight buff.

You cant rely on landing all 3 shots into the head because after the first shot the weapon already becomes super inaccurate, not talking about the recoil, not to mention that it is pretty hard to land 3 headshots with a Burst Rifle on moving targets while moving yourself.
i think i like them more now! they sound better and have reallistic sprai. Now I own everyone with the BR-16 thx to logitech!!
I ran with the BR16 today for a few hours. I honestly loved it. I haven’t used it a ton in the past but I have used it enough on Kira and Arty to know exactly how good it was compared to now. The damage you can put out is insane. However, most guns in this game requires good tracking. The BR16 and I guess the Stark (didn’t use it) require not only good tracking but also good timing on when to click.
I treated it like a long range shotgun pretty much and I destroyed people with it all day. I put a videos up on YT that are examples of this. Arty/BR216 felt pretty good until you put him in areas of maps where his ability is worthless or wonky. And I still did pretty well on those maps too. The one downside to the BR16, and I guess shotguns have this, is the long time between firing. If they drop to 1% HP on a burst and you were in an even firefight you will most likely lose. In those situations an M4 would have won out. But then the amount of times where I simply melted somebody before they could respond offset that.
I have nearly 20 hours logged playing with the pre-patch BR-16.
I could do the fast rof thingy without the need of macros.
The BRs were in need of a little nerf.
However, they overnerfed the BR’s a bit, i think.
While the ROF nerf on the BR-16 is justified, the delay between bursts on both BRs is just too long.
They are taking away a lot of cqc capability from the guns.
Roll back delay to about 190 or 180ms and maybe make them do a little less damage is what I would do.
Gonna check back tomorrow and maybe write some more.

I was wondering if you were gonna get around to doing something like that.
Feels better for long range poking but even less fun at close range. They’re alright I guess but I’m not a fan of using them as they feel clunky and the timing is awkward.

Yeah heh. Figured I’d see if people were being a bit too quick to judge. I feel as if they are because they felt strong to me. Most of my day was like this and [url=“https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X8biXwI7nuY”]this.
This change was unnecessary and seriously shifted the weapons to long range only. It might as well be a damn sniper rifle. So yes, you could say, “it rewards players with good aim” just like a sniper rifle.
Why was this change even considered?
From what I’ve heard most people seem to find the BR workable and the stark unusable, so why not revert the stark back to the way it previously was and keep the BR the way it is? That way fraggers and skyhammers get a more long range option, arty and kira get an old burst rifle back and the none existent group of people who thought they were previously OP have everyone using a slightly weaker gun to the old BR.
I’m really struggling with the stark. yes, it hits like a truck, but I use 100 fov and long range is an ant farm. Good thing I have ADS… oh wait, now I cant see half the screen.
