These are ideas are ok but alot of them are a bit out of the box, I suggest just taking a few good but POSSIBLE ideas and try to do them but you not do all of them because like i said alot of them are outsie the box.

None of them are impossible, though they are not feasible as a whole.

After you mentioned the first 4 things to do, I had in my mind “Counter Strike”. After reading the whole big list, I have an image of Counter Ctrike and Day of Defeat mixed. Both games have what I hate the most; the lack of speed.

If I’d make a mod these are the things I would include:

  • Smaller spread
  • Faster rate of fire
  • Faster respawns
  • Bunnyhopping/strafing possible the same way it is in Q3 CPMA
  • No soldier class
  • Fieldops can only give ammo (no spam weapons)

Though with those changes the game wouldn’t be that realistic anymore, but hell, games are supposed to be fun, not realistic. Though more than those listed above, I would love to see Q3’s Defrag mod stand alone free version =) Could just be something like “The trickjump game” or something, many people would be interested.

Sorry for stealing your topic for my dreams, but I found it to be somewhat in the same subject =)

Wow! I’ve always hated the “lame” stuff in et, like panza, artys etc. (atleast when I die 10 times on row for them). And I’ve always loved to be a rambo. And wanted to have faster gaming, like faster running speed (tho server admins might turn it down…) tho not sure about the firerate, atleast for all weaps. Where you really see the good gunning skill. Actually I got an idea thx to you, I might wanna do “ETHard” based on etpro (tho to get the source is a bit problem afaik). Tho I’m a high class newb on coding, but this sounds something a I could turn up after a while of learning (some of these I can do already). Btw. do you have any experiense in coding?

Ps. My monitor is dead. :mad: I can only be here while at work sometimes. I hope to get it fixed, or get a new one soon.

Yeah right. :frowning: I’ve been thinking of if I start on this project or not, however if I’m gonna start, I’ll need a helping hand and ideas. Are you good at photoshop etc.? Are you artistic? What about modelling or animations if needed? Can you edit menu scripts etc.? I can do all of this except animations, tho there’s too much to do on my self. So I could find atleast graphix artist handy. Still to express however I’m not sure if I’ll start it and when I’d start it. I could however move slowly on the coding part, as I know how to handle some of the ideas.

Btw actually all of the things you listed are easy even for me, but I got more ideas, regarding to medic kits, adrenaline and stuff.

  • No full revive (like in reality if you are injured, medics can only help you a bit) --> good idea, eg in Hidden and Dangerous 2: if you use med kits = your maximum HP si lowered
  • Draining health for wounded (unless self bandage) --> makes game slower and more boring
  • Smoke drains health (unless breath is holded) --> better could be stamina (not health)
  • Heroes (dive under grenade to save friends) --> hmm, sounds great
  • Player holding his helmet while sprinting (cant shoot too)
  • After one shot under water, gun jams and cannot shoot, unless fixed by field ops)
  • Body dragging/carrying
  • Maybe long reviving, so body dragging will be very useful --> makes reviving useless
  • Human shield
  • Any class can pick health/ammo from the cabinets and take it with them (or maybe having one at spawn time?)
  • Longer first aid healing
  • Leg/arm breaking --> sounds interesting
  • Putting ammo into a clip (if clip has 15 ammo and you reload, you have to put ammo into that 15 ammo clip, in order for it to have 30 ammo. Its hard to explain but I think you understand)
  • Shooting in a leg decreases speed
  • Shooting in an arm decreases accuracy and increases recoil
  • Shooting in a helmet doesn’t take off any health, but makes a headache (like poisoned in nq just less swinging)
  • Sometimes jamming gun (fld ops can fix it) --> good for SP but not for MP: random thing are not good for MP games
  • Medics have limited health packs --> makes game more boring becouse you can easily respawn using slashkill, grenades, etc.
  • Covert Ops can pick locks (when not disguised, when disguised can easily open doors) --> makes disguising useless
  • Thick wood/metal penetrating bullets
  • Engineers can make trenches
  • Kamikazes (wrap grenades around yourself and run into enemy base) --> more spawnkilling?
  • Recon planes (shows all enemy units, which are not in buildings) --> interesting
  • Trap mines (plant a landmine and pull a 2m wire in some direction. Someone kicks the wire and, hiss… BOOOM)

Insane, huh? I forgot 2/3 of my ideas when typing :tongue:

You have a lot of interesting ideas but some of them are dangerous - can destroy gameplay. Keep it up. :stroggbanana:

Write down new ideas immediately after you get new one. :wink:

BTW: dont make new mod, improve existing one! E.g. No Quarter - it’s Open Source!

by the sounds its is trying to be a more realistic mod, so its seems strange that you would choose a arcade style game as the base for your mod

call of duty series is already a pretty realsitic shooter with plenty of extrea weapons etc and i belive even has a basic class system (not quite like ET) but its a start to expand on to add abbilites to classes to specilize them e.g. medic etc

CoD isnt near as real as red orchestra or brothers in arms, still a great game though
