Fragger
-Reduced maximum Frag Grenade count to 1 (from 2).
-Reduced Frag Grenade cooldown to 17s (from 30s).
What do you think about the changes to Fragger?
Well let’s look at the facts
- He still has a cooldown for cooking a grenade then keeping it, exact number I don’t know off hand.
- 30 second cooldown for nades, means he had an extra nade most of the time and always had one per wave unless he wasted both right away.
- He now has a 16 second cooldown, which means you are typically guaranteed a grenade per each wave, but you no longer can have two at a time.
So, this just means a few things, you are now punished more for wasting a nade, nade spam is no longer a thing for Fragger, and the skill floor is now higher.
I think if anything it just means Fragger isn’t the oh so obvious choice anymore, and he’s now a much more difficult merc to play. Which is fair considering before he was the mandatory choice.
For the high level/ experienced Fragger players, this changes nothing. He will still be the go to damage dealer merc, the mandatory, the Meta. If anything, he is slightly more effective now. This is because the high level players weren’t the ones wasting the nades, it was the low level ones. The only thing that this has changed is now he will have a more difficult learning curve.
Clearly this shows us that SD can see what they have made, and that he is one of the two Meta trendy mercs at the moment ( The other meta trendy one being Sparks, but thats for another time and place ), they will hopefully continue to listen to us and see that so far, there has been almost exclusively negative or un-wavered responses to this change, and remedy it. I would personally really like to the Frags to have a one second longer cooking time, or perhaps they could stop fiddling with the somewhat usable mercs and ACTUALLY FIX THE PERKS WHICH DO LITERALLY NOTHING! Pineapple Juggler, Im looking at you. Now that Im talking about it, wouldn’t that be an indirect Fragger nerf, while not being massive it will also punish the new Fragger players, which is all that SD seems to want to do with Fragger. Or better yet, you could make Pineapple Juggler not only appear with a pop up on screen, but you could let is also reset the fuse so you don’t blow your hand and indirectly the rest of your body off every time you try and use the stupid thing against a player who can cook for longer than a tap. You know, just saying. It would be nice.
This is what I think as well
The only people I can see being against this are those who weren’t that good with Nades and were wasting them far too quickly.
I actually like this change, one less granade but cooldown is so much faster.
I think you should’ve said 1 Nade, 15s. That way he’d theoretically have the same number of Nades over a certain amount of time but can’t Nade spam.
It’s still kind of the same except you actually throw more nades over time. It’s just that you cant spam it. Those are the only differences, I think it was a bit uncalled for but it doesn’t really change much overall when you look at the very big picture.
If you’re good this leans towards being a buff, but ultimately is such a paltry change for pub play. A guaranteed nade every spawn wave is nothing to sneeze at though, that’s pretty potent.
People who this was a nerf were clearly bad at Fragger. As long as you know how to throw your nades this change was an absolute buff.
This buff is great. It increased his average grenades per minute.
Pre-buff he was throwing 4 grenades the first minute and 2 every minute after.
Post-buff he now throws 4.5 grenades the first minute and 3.5 grenades every minute after. (Estimated value.)
I honestly haven’t noticed any difference. I didn’t throw my nades unless I figured they’d kill something. I very rarely had use for a second one in one spawn wave.
I think its actually a buff to fragger, because his frags used to have a 30 second cooldown each. Now they have a 17 second cooldown each, just not in a row. This means you can throw more frags each match than you could before, so for players that never miss a frag its actually a buff. It just makes fragger less spammy and nader the go-to spammer when it comes to nades.
Its not that clear cut. Fragger has now higher overall nade DPS (more nades can be thrown in a match), but less nade-burst.
You can no longer throw two nades and instagib two separate opponents, opening up the entire objective.
Personally, I’d keep the nade at max1, but maybe increase the cooldown slightly, to say 20 seconds. The good thing coming out of max1 nade is that you can bait/dodge a single nade and know you are safe from another for a specific amount of time. This allows to push the fragger and take them out before they have another instagib ball of death ready.
The 17seconds cooldown is rather short though and buffs fraggers on defense, who now have consistently (almost) 2 nades per enemy wave. Previously, fragger would likely use both nades on one wave, then have another one for the second wave, but come up a nade short for the third, allowing the offense to push; especially if they stacked their own nades.
Regardless of that, it wouldn’t be a terrible thing to further nerf nade speed, nade cooking time, or best of all, disallowing canceling of nade cooking.
Mainly play fragger. I consider the change a nerf and I think it was good. Was too easy for fragger to clear out objectives or break teams, solo.
I also want better ways of countering nades, such as what szakalot listed, or heavily reducing overkill damage that’s leading to instagib.
I still think Fragger is the strongest merc. I loved playing him before and I love it now. I mean… I almost never had 2 nades on my hand anyways cause of that 30 seconds cooldown.
oh no 1 less grenade!!!11 ;( i cent spam like a nub XDDDD
Stop crying, they just made him less spammy, learn how to use your rifle and not only your grenades.
I think they were trying to emphasise the role of nader in area denial, so now fragger has only 1 frag instead of 2, making him less viable for an area denial roll type class. i imagine the devs intended the grenade for killing only purposes.
