you will remember, rocket launcher in offline.
imo if it appear, it will overpower.
how modification launcher if you can?
what do you think about rocket luncher?
Idk… I don’t see it adding much to the actual game meta - it’d just be another Fragger really.
If that thing has a targeting time like Arty’s Artillery Strike or Kira’s Orbital Strike, and the projectile is not too fast, I think it can be legit. It’s just a question about tweaking the values. The detonation radius have to be big IMO. But if the rocket takes a bit of time to be launched and travel to its destination, it’ll will be fine.
As ProfPlump points out, it probably wouldn’t be much different than another Fragger. Or if he has multiple rockets than it’ll probably be another Nader. That’s all assuming that any merc will get it. After all, right now, it’s an unused asset with no known plans of equipping it to a future merc.
There is one thing they could do to make it unique, however, and it would be kind of cool. Make into a wireless TOW missile. Put your merc at risk to try and deliver a power explosive. There would be two downsides to it. Firstly, it will automatically explode if you die while it’s airborne. Secondly, it can be shot down. But you do have limited control. W increases speed, S decreases speed, A and D strafes, and you use the mouse to control it’s path.

Was this run through Babelfish before posting?
I would attach it to a Merc with a jetpack, low health, and high speed. Most of the Assault classes are burly, slow Mercs with firepower. This would add some variety.
Could be pretty tasty.
Make sure that thing has a cooldown hooboy
Javelin seems to be the speculated merc.
And that’s the keyword here, speculated. While on the stream Javelin has been mentioned a lot there is no confirmed plans Javelin will ever be.

I could see something like this working well. 80-100 hp, burstfire rifles/dreiss, and a long range rocket launcher. Maybe a jetpack, but I’m not sure if the maps are designed for that. You trade away the ability to bounce grenades like fragger/nader, but get a lot more range and instant detonation. In a sense, it is the assault equivalent of kira/sparks. It is a bit of an oddball for an assault class (it isn’t really a front lines class the way fragger/rhino is), but it could be a very fun design.
Ohhh, I would like to try some Rocket lunch rather than daily Grenade Lunch.
If anybody played Wolf or Wolf:ET you know that those games had a Panzerfaust class that only had the Panzer and a pistol. I’d wager SD probably had ideas to put something like this in DB but ran into issues of balancing. You can’t make it as strong as the Panzer was in those games and it could be pretty cheap on pubs since, unlike most pubs in those games, there were usually Panzer limits. And you can’t add limits like that in DB because of the F2P nature and people want to play/use their abilities they bought.
It could work but it would be a bit more like having a super fast Fragger grenade that didn’t need to be primed which would be interesting to balance.

One thing they could do is make the warhead only explode when it reaches a certain distance – basically, a “don’t blow up the user” safeguard. Make it deal 100 damage on a direct hit but no aoe if it doesn’t travel far enough. Tune the range right and fragger would be significantly better at short range. You could also play around with missile speed, a laser designator along the rocket’s travel path, and proximity fusing the missile (so you don’t need direct hits), depending on how things play out.
Well, there are so many mercs that can take care of the EV, however they each have their own way of handling this situation. Skyhammer is the trickiest in terms of taking it down in one throw, since his air strike marker can stupidly roll under the EV and not trigger the thunder. Arty takes a longer time since one artillery strike only takes half of the EV’s HP, but he can call it more often, while Skyhammer must wait an extra approx 40 secs to regen his thunder, making Arty much more accurate and consistent in terms of vehicle takedowns. Nader can do some damage to the EV, but not good enough to compete with the likes of Arty or Skyhammer.
So what am I trying to prove by comparing already existing mercs with Javelin (possible rocket wielding merc) ? Well, the answer is quite obvious: we must figure out how Javelin’s arsenal will work and why, in my opinion, it should be a tiny bit weaker than Skyhammer, and probably on par with Arty and Kira. First off, the rocket launcher would probably be an instant EV disabler (unless it’s got alien defensive technology). The rocket launcher will also be more reliable since it’ll be usable indoors (with severe consequences, of course). The cooldown on the rockets is debatable though…possibly inbetween 40-60 secs.
But dear community member, why talk about a very underrated possible rocket wielding mercenary on a weapon discussion? Maybe because the rocket launcher is such a strong weapon, that it seems to fit in as special mercenary ability (kind of like Rhino’s minigun), so it’s quite logical why I so strongly associate it with Javelin. I would get into details about possible loadout options, but it’d be out of context.
TL; DR: The rocket launcher is definitely an ability-type weapon, given its destructive potential. Game changing, its effect will be felt on the battlefield, and it must, and I mean it MUST, have an orgasmic sound effect.
