What do you think about getting a random merc for 10,000 credits?

I like all mercs equally, and I wish there was a way to get a merc randomly at a cheap price.

You pay 10,000, you get a random merc. If you already have that merc, you get a random iron loadout card for that merc instead.

Great for people who have almost no mercs. Bad for people who already have mercs.

I got this idea from crossy road. The times when I use the credits to get new characters, and get frustrated when it randomed into one I already have.

There is this second way that is inspired by dragon age inquisition multiplayer. You unlock the character by getting the armor, which is randomly drawn from some chest you buy for some amount of credits. Imagine if instead of getting a, let’s say, cobalt card, it gives you the merc for free, and subsequent times you land on a cobalt card, you get the cobalt card? This only applies to equipment cases.

Ok ok ok, here is how I think it should work. For a cheap price, you get a random merc. If it lands on a merc you already have, you get an equipment case containing cards of all rarities from that one merc only. The rarities are adjusted so that lead is less common and the higher rarities are more rare, just so you don’t get ripped off from paying too much just to get a lead loadout card. Maybe have the equipment cases be iron or higher?

This game dosent need more RNG.

You can pay 50,000 for the merc, or something around 10,000 for a random merc, and if you already have it, you get an equipment case containing cards only from that merc at iron level or higher.

It’s not like you are forced to get a random merc at a cheaper price.

That’s way too good deal when starting. 5 mercs instead of 1 with small chance of repeats. Honestly, merc prices are suprisingly low compared to credit gain.

(Eox) #5

Way too good for starting, and a bad idea overall IMO. Mercs shouldn’t be unlocked that easly, even if it’s random.

(Hibbsan) #6

Absolutely not. As the people above me said, that deal would be way, way too good. it’s not even that hard to farm 50k credits.

(Juan518) #7

would be a good idea if you could only do it once so low levels get a cheap merc. otherwise it would be way too cheap

(MarsRover) #8

AFAIK massive credit bonuses on levels 2-4 plus missions allow you to buy one 50k merc around level 4-5.

(CameFromThePast) #9

Sounds gut.

10k for a merc? This is nothing. It would destroy the business model.

(3N1GM4) #11

Please, I think we all know that if this was implemented it would be for $8 or 45,000 credits, and if you already had the merc, it would become a regular case.

(3N1GM4) #12

I think the only way this could be done is say 10k for a random merc (or two) and it would replace the free rotation. Which should be a personal free rotation instead of game wide, but thats a different topic.

(signofzeta) #13

What if we implemented some sort of time delay between uses?

How about my second idea where the first time you get a cobalt card of a merc, you get that merc instead?

(Jostabeere) #14

Why do we need this mechanic? So people would create new accounts and try to get 2 mercs they want to have from start bonuses?
Everyone can easily get a merc every weekend. 50K in 2 1/2 days is possible. I got 50K in 2 days prior the CW update for Phoenix by doing 6 rorations per day and from gamemode/win bonuses. And the normal gain for playing the game

You should definetely have used the black friday merc sales.

This game would pretty much have zero revenue. Dirty Bomb has the most generous F2P system I have ever played. They don’t do the nonsense of adding EXTRA on newly released mercs, lowering it to a standard amount after two weeks. They have 3 hour interval quests 3 at a time, which promotes people to play often. And overall, the price of a newly released merc is pretty cheap when you compare it to other stuff like LoL/HOTS
