@Watsyurdeal Burnie won’t get elected. the fact that he calls himself a socialist scares away too many votes and Hillary has a large majority.
What do you guys think about Climate Change?
I wouldn’t be so sure…if Obama taught us anything is that predictions aren’t always the end result.
He’s getting a huge, and I mean, HUGE amount of traction via Facebook, Twitter, etc. He’s getting a lot of support from people my age and quite many more who many years older and simply do not trust Hilary, mainly because she changes positions over time and the whole email thing.
And we’re sure as hell not letting Trump in because he’s an embarrassment, he’s everything we’re ashamed of in the United States.
Berine may not seem like he’ll win, but, I think that if everyone actually gets educated about his positioning and goes the primaries to vote for him, he’ll be a shoe in. It’s not that difficult to go out and vote, the hardest part is picking who.
Global warming seems to be quite evident. Temperatures are raising everywhere as a direct result from the rise of emissions from large factories. This is usually shown by comparing the temperature rise with the amount of heavy industry factory number rise.
On the other hand, I have read articles that point to the lack of evidence presented during the signing of the Kyoto pact.
In any case, global warming isn´t the only problem caused by power plants that run on coal or other fossil fuels. The vast amount of chemicals sent into the air by burning and tempering with different metals is ruining our health, since we are all breathing in those chemicals regardless of where we live in.
I believe that the factory/ higher temperatures correlation is hiding the urbanization cause. Wherever you spread lots of asphalt and concrete you remove vegetation that cools the region through transpiration and you create a dark, thermally absorbing layer. Also, tight laid out buildings impede proper air flow and increase temperatures in cities especially.
Interestingly enough, the global average temperature has risen very slightly, but what can be already measured is the higher variations in temperatures! Cold regions are getting colder, while hot regions are getting hotter. This higher gradient favours the generation of huge storm fronts and locally of droughts and floods.
At the same time acidity of the oceans is rising due to the CO2 dissolving in the sea and reacting with water to create carbonic acid. Species that rely on carbonate to create their shells, will see the acidity of the ocean starting to corrode their homes and “skin”. It’s terrible.
Finally there is an incredible ironic piece of history that is only starting to reveal its real implications. CFC’s banning is the only recorded successful and quick environmental action taken in the past. Once proven that CFC’s were the cause of the ozone layer destruction we experienced the most spectacular change in policies and restriction that within a couple of decades brought the production of CFC’s to a halt. We can already see the effects of those actions by observing a slow but positive regeneration of the ozone layer. Unfortunately, and here is the ironic part, the alternative gases developed for substituting CFC’s turn out to be green house gases with an effect that can ten thousand times stronger than CO2. This was something that wasn’t know up until recently and it seems that by stopping one environmental catastrophe, we have accelerated another one.
noo thread about climate change and people are talking about US, but seriously if people wont stop being brainless dicks life will die in next 100 / 200 years
Hyperbole like that is what idiots take as excuse to not take climate change seriously.
Also the OP specifically talked about the US, of course people will talk about it. The US is the only place in the world that even has this discussion in the first place.
I just don’t get how a country (USA) that was for a long time the leader in science can have the majority of its citizens disagree with those people who raised the country to what it currently is.
I’m sure many Americans believe that their strength and status comes from the military and their “heroes”, but in fact it was research and the underlying scientists who made USA what it is. Without those scientist, there would be no Nuclear bomb, no military superiority, no first man on the moon, etc. Why not believe those people who actually contributed to changing the world when they tell you that the world is going to change for the worse?
Talking to US people, apparently because their education system is shit-tastic. So ends up a lot of people are actually genuinely stupid uneducated
I was told, get this, that the schools get budged based on how well the students score on the standardized tests! How in the world that actually passed through legislation boggles the mind.
Also, a lot of the nuclear and space science stuff was actually developed by German Scientists that were “convinced” to join up after WW2. Most of them were weapon engineers, specifically those guys who build the V2 rockets were employed at NASA. Look up Wernher von Braun.
V2 for those not in the know, were the unguided rockets used to bypass UK air defence. They were artillery with such a long range, they could launch them across the canal and they completely devastated London and the general UK. They would’ve won Germany the war if the US didn’t decide to literally throw meat at Germany until it stopped working. And even then without the Russians it would probably not have worked.
V2 were kind of a big deal. The first ever rocket in history.

Germany was actually very far behind the US in nuclear technology during the war. You’re right about the rockets, but most of the nuclear research came from the UK and the US
^ no that’s incorrect, the US and UK stole german scientists and engineers after war and during war they stole documents and manuscripts.

Are you sort of a US hater? Hate freedom? Its like this new kid (200 years get it?) comes into a class full of violent controlling people and he allows everyone to speak and is nice… Lets all pick on that kid and exploit his flaws… While the other kids have huge flaws…I’m like fragger bad analogy. Anyways, people will be jealous DEAL WITH IT.
Oppenheimer definitely was in the US before the fall of Germany. Also, the US received UK documents on an atomic weapon in a deal for 40 cruiser ships I believe.

Dude…have you SEEN our news shows? Trust me, if you did it wouldn’t surprise why so many people are misinformed or arrogant.

Here’s what it’s like, America is the kid who comes into class and acts like people should respect him. He’ll talk $&^%, make dumb jokes, try to act cool, he’s trying to be popular, but when he gets called out on his bull$&^% he gets all defensive and wants to start a fight. Because he knows that beneath all his angst he wants to fit in with the rest of the world but is so indecisive about what the $&^% he wants to do with his life.
