What do you fellow developers think of pcgamemods?

Hello, This is Sergio, I designed and created pcgamemods. I noticed that the Enemy Territory is being used a bit more thanks to Rgoer mentioning it in here. I was just curious as to what those who have used it thought about it. I am very open to constructive criticism so feel free to give me all sorts of input. I am really trying to make the site about you, the developer. As those of you who have used it know, you do not have to wait for a staff member to add files, they go up when you submit them. You can also add your own screenshots that are hosted on the site. So basically it’s really up to you to flaunt your mod. Anyway if I could get some feedback I would greatly appreciate it.

It’s a very easy and useful way to upload things.

I just have one question, as I have only submitted one thing so far. Can you over-write old uploads? It wouldn’t be good to have a lot of versions of the same map clogging up space.

i can’t verifie and i can’t post screenies cause of the java stuff, it just keeps a grey box, but i can upload my map trough the java thing, but not screenies!?

I think it’s great, the only thing I would like to have is the ability to edit the description etc of a file or delete it if need be.

Things I would like to see to make it the definitive place to get ET maps:

1. A place for comments from gamers. The description from the developer is great, but you usually get the real story about a map by reading user comments.
2. A way to link different versions of the same map. With all the betas being released for maps, there has to be a way to know which one is the most recent.
3. A way to sort the maps. Currently they are only listed by date added. As the list of maps grows, this will become even more important.

Ok, the first one is already implemented, look on the side in the rank area and you will see something that says “Comments: #” and it has the amount of comments posted for that file. So other members can comment

I will definately add sorting soon though.

Lennyballa, could I talk to you on some sort of instant messaging protocol so I could work out the kinks ?

Would be better if you could have an account there and be able to do more with your uploads. Like when u have alot of BETA releases ot feels rather dumb that u cannot delete or update the download.

The JAVA thingy for screenshots seems to be out of order. I have tried and tried but cannot upload screens. But that is a minor problem.

Would also be great if users could add some notes about the maps.
And as i mentioned before, would be great if they could get us a /etmain dir for servers to point their downloads to.

having to sift thru 15 pages of advertisements prior to the download screen.

Minus the ads… its not a bad place at all.

I really tried to cut down on the ads, I called up the advertising company and they said that they “throttle” the ads so SHOULD only get 1 every 15 minutes, I asked if I could take them off completely and they said that the revenue (which pays for server costs) would be hindered if I did so. Which I should also add that I am not really making huge profits off this or anything. It’s just a site that the community can use.

I will definitely use it as my map starts getting close to beta, and on for the sole reason:

Thanks, it used to take a couple of days to get files up, and I realized that developers don’t want to wait that long. So hence why I did it. Plus no other sites were offering it.
