Do you mean the options from the BSP-menu?
I usually use BSP -meta only for test compiles.
For a final compile you should try one of the finals.

Or you can make a batch file with all the options you want use.
Try to look / search the q3map2 forum for compile options.

they do different things, for tests compiles BSP -meta like nullskillz said, but you can play around a little with compiling the others and seeing what you get
