What are your thoughts on bots as MP placeholders?

For server admins can set the server to fill with bots until PCs connect. Would you prefer to have bots or no bots when finding servers? Take into account that bots don’t account for the number of players listed in a server, so there may be a server listed as 5/16 but be full of bots waiting to be replace.

Rather no bots at all actually. Regardless of the quality of the AI, I prefer to have fight only sentient beings.

While you’re at it, please have a look at turning off the orange auras as well.

I can’t play the game yet (EU) but I have zero interest to play against bots online.

Havnt played yet, but its very anoying when people leave games and just get done over by the other side.

From what ive heard tho the bots are useless but normally the players who quit may aswell be bots to me it makes no difference really, fairly easy kills usually and its abit more cannon fodder between the two sides

Would rather play with actual people all the time but bots dont seem to be an issue to me as if people join they take there place and no team is ever a man down as such

I haven’t been able to find a CVAR to take off the outlines yet, I’ve been working on it.

Although the bots seem fine online I wouldn’t mind having them gone!

Alright, I’ve got the red outline around enemy players gone.

What do you guys think about the tint around friendly players?

When I played ETQW, it really annoyed me when I’d connect to a server full of bots! Although I soon learnt how to filter these out and didnt have the problem again…

There is g_enemyTintEnabled for the client side (dunno if it works)

You can probably also change the colour (like in ET:QW) with g_enemyColor (default = “0.75 0.05 0.05 1”)

… at least the bot medics give revive syringes instead of running past you (even when there’s no enemies nearby).
