What are your mouse settings?

(Black) #1

Well I just bought the Razer Deathadder 2013 mouse and I have to say i’m deeply satisfied, however I’ve noticed alot of users settings differ from mine. What are your mouse settings and why do you use it?

DPI: 1000
I have abosutely no idea how players can play a fast paced game like DB with a DPI lower then 1000…

Polling Rate: 1000
Pretty standard a comfortable for me

Sensitivity: 17
Works nicely for me.

Crosshair: Very small red dot in the middle of the screen.
Big cross hairs are distracting to me especially at long ranges

Mouse Grip: Fingertip
This is the most precise mouse grip as oppose to the palm and claw grip

Mouse Accel: Hell Naw
Your aim can never be precise nor accurate with that on.

I think there was a thread on this already in off topic btw, I personally use my whole arm with the elbow as the main pivot when I play. My 360 is at least 2ft +/-

I really need to try this as my knuckles and fingers are seizing up. Almost 20yrs of fps claw-grabbing has taken its toll.

Just bought a G502 and have been playing with settings for the past two days. Haven’t nailed anything down yet. Apparently the polling rate goes as high as 1000hz, but standard win7 usb support doesn’t support that afaik. Apparently there’s a registry hack I need to use.

edit

For anyone interested in the polling rate

My GOD!
How do you people play on such low DPI? It’s so slow and sluggish to me.

Also thanks mOist.

800 dpi

Don’t know the exact number in game, but I know it equates to 19 cm per 360.

Feels good to me.

Most of these people prob lowered their sens slowly, little by little over time, until they were literally nailing 80% or more of their shots just off of muscle memory and twitch.

That process takes at best, about two years or so of dialing it down slowly every time it felt “too fast”, until it “felt as natural as breathing”.

Personally I definitely feel like a medium sens player, there’s no way I could move my whole arm on my desk. XD

So I got involved in the last big topic on this and listened to everyones advice and slowly started lowering. I have seen quite a bit of improvement.

Currently,
6/11 windows
90 fov
1000hz
800 dpi
14 sens

Most important thing was getting a gaming mouse pad that was like 4 times bigger than my old one. It feels a lot slower at first but your brain begins using your whole arm instead of wrist flicks and eventually it becomes just as fast but also is able to use much finer muscle control of the whole arm rather then tiny movements of the wrist that don’t leave much room for compensation. Trust me your brain is much better at doing tracking calculus over a grid of 5cm than over a half centimeter

(Black) #11

What grip do you use and how big is your mouse pad

It seems like the only time you would need to move your whole arm across your desk is if you are using a palm grip with extremely low sensitivity.

Here’s my mouse and mouse pad.

I have the Razer Goliathus Speed Variant, the largest one you can get, and a death adder chroma.

Basically my Blackwidow Keyboard sits on the mat, and takes up about half of it, that leaves me about 44 centimeters of room to move my mouse.

Since I play with 19 cm, I can move that amount in just about any direction and still be fine.

And I use the palm grip because it just feels natural, claw or fingertip just feels weird.

I could never go back to a small mousepad, bigger the better  Oh and the “mouse grips” stuff is utter bollocks, use what is most comfortable.

“Mouse grips” do actually decide how you aim.

Palm Grip requires is requires you to move your whole arm and is hard to make accurate movements. It also makes your hand tired faster
Finger Grip is very percise and requires just the wrist
Claw Grip is most the precise and accurate grip, however your fingers or wrist may tire after a while.

They really don’t, it is just the same stuff spouted on forums endlessly with absolutely zero evidence. Moreover people will never admit or notice but as you play it is very common for your grip and finger placement to alter i.e. palm to claw and back.

No disrespect but we don’t have to conclusively prove in a scientific lab that mouse grips make a difference.

I’ve never used claw grip or palm grip while playing a FPS. It’s always been fingertip.

Each grip has it’s advantages and disadvantages.
