What are you guys going to do about revive trains?

(Rjsto) #21

If the problem is that everyone has a visible defusing tool but not reviving tool, maybe it should show the reviving non medic putting plasters all over the incapped dude

(CCP115) #22

What are you talking about? Everyone’s got hands to hand with, and fingers to finger with.

(neg0ne) #23

reviving temmates and good medic-work is a core charasteristic of this game.
its fine the way it is.
in case of a revivetrain: congrats to the medic. hes just making the most out of the mistakes of the enemies.
btw: the medic often has to set himself in a very vulnerable and dangerous situation … so shoot him and the train stops.
people will get used to the fact that spiners and explosives have no intagib anymore and play acondingly anyway.

sparks is another thing…

(yusayu) #24

I like the instagib changes, gives regular Fire Supports at least something the other classes cant do. Rez trains only happen when people are too lazy to finish the enemy off or you have killed 3 people with a nade or smth, but even then i’ve never felt like the revives are a problem, ill just kill the medic that comes to rez as well.

(Sterling) #25

A good medic keeps himself covered and pops out to heal and revive the whole team. Nobody wants it tweaked.
A good sniper keeps himself covered and pops out to instagib one person. Everyone wants it tweaked.

C’mon guys, really? Everything has a consequence, and that is the consequence of nerfing explosive instagibs to oblivion. SD should have thought beyond the explosives when they nerfed them. Revive trains were very bearable when there was a good sniper instagibbing anyone to counter them, but now… meh.

a lot of ppl have wanted sparks tweaked for a long time but sd doesnt think its a problem or so it seems at least

(Jostabeere) #27

teach me how to gib them with my gun before they hit the ground sempai
Don’t we have fancy animations where the mercs make a fancy pirouette before they fall down? Headshot them. Easy.

(N8o) #28

Even after they increased the getup time to a FULL SECOND? How are you not gibbing people?

(retief) #29

Pretty much this. If you can’t do 100 damage to an unmoving body in a second (more than that, most likely, once you count reaction speed and possibly charge time), then you don’t deserve the gib. If you are actively shooting the guy that you just killed, the revive won’t go off. Sure, if you ran out of ammo while killing him and need to reload, you will have a harder time. I have a hard time calling that an issue with game mechanics, though.

(Sterling) #30

Sparks wasn’t a problem to deal with. No medic was, at least to me. But now it’s just getting annoying to NEED to shoot everyone on the ground, even after blasting their faces with a frag grenade. Mandatory downed opponent shooting feels more like a chore than a game.

If I wanted to execute every single one of my opponents, I’d play Soldier of Fortune.

e: I’m kinda wondering why people are shitting on my opinion, when SD heard people that did the exact thing I’m doing and nerfed explosives. “just shoot him lol omg dude” is not going to cut it. It’s annoying. I play games to at least have a balance of fun and work.

(retief) #31

It’s a tradeoff. On one hand, gibbing isn’t really that fun on its own. On the other hand, it serves as a balancing factor for revives, and I like that powerful revives are a thing. It also adds more decision making. You have to choose between shooting the body, running in and knifing the body, shooting someone else while hoping that the body doesn’t get revived, and running away. This is a real decision, and picking the wrong option can lose you the game. I’ve died because I went too aggressively for gibs and got punished, and I’ve died pointlessly because I switched targets and died before getting a gib. This is the sort of decision making that adds depth to a game.

Personally, I think gibbing and reviving are a net benefit to the game, and it is a core part of the design of DB.

(Fate_6) #32

Revive trains just got a huge nerf with the introduction of stoker

(Lumi) #33

Seriously, I thought this would be actually serious thread, but turns out it’s just a whiny whine tread for Fragger maining people who now have to spend an extra second shooting after throwing a grenade and can’t expect to kill three people behind a wall from safety without them being revived.

Let’s face it: Fragger’s grenades were OP, now he’s actually more balanced killing-wise with other classes.

(Mura) #34

I’ve been liking the new changes they made. It just comes down to people not finishing off the people they down. Sure it does happen once I awhile while you’re killing multiple people then a random medic comes in and revives but it doesn’t happen to me enough to be a nuisance.

(Samniss_Arandeen) #35

The Get Up Augment should make the paddles/revive-gun charge faster, not make the revive healthier.

(N8o) #36

Doesn’t that effectively do the exact same thing?

(diamondArcher) #37

The revives are super powerful in execution. I faced a team with 4 Phoenix yesterday and it was near impossible to kill the team off.

(N8o) #38

True shit

(Grave_Knight) #39
1: They are already are tweaked. Try shooting or knifing people as they go down. With practice you can gib most mercs before the hit the ground.
I’ve gotten use to gibbing people ASAP that, while I was running for cover I gibbed a downed player on reflex alone.

(Jostabeere) #40

True shit
Merc limits. Problem solved. SD openes a goddman Pandoras Box by free-whoring Phoenix.
Every damn team has 2-4 Phoenixes.
