They gave out free elite cases to everyone playing during this time. 3 and another 1 so far IIRC.

During an elite case weekend, All players that login during a certain period of time will get 1 elite crate to open for free! the elite crate is delivered usually as soon as you login and who knows, you might get lucky and get a cobalt!
