what are brink's weapons and class abilities?

(signofzeta) #1

I have only seen the Assault rifle, Submachinegun, Shotgun, Grenade Launcher, and Pistol.

Are there going to be sniper rifles? Rocket launchers? Flamethrowers? Heavy Machineguns? Chainguns?

Will the other team have different set of weapons than the team you are in like in wolfenstein Enemy Territory?

Is there a feature to pick up dead enemies’ weapons?

Who can use which weapon?

What are each of the class abilities?

That’s the only question that has been answered so far in my opinion. Both teams will have the same weapons but they will look / sound different. Eg. the Security gear is all shiny and new and the Resistance stuff is old and worn out.

I’m not entirely sure about ET but weren’t the weapons the same for both teams? At least in values (clip size, firerate, damage, reload time etc.). They felt different because of the skins and sounds but it wasn’t like RTCW where the MP40 and Thompson had different clip sizes and firerates (?).

and yes there is a Scoped rifle. glad i could help

A ‘scoped’ rifle rather.

Only the Thompson and MP40 where different.

BUT…they were the same in damage, spread and ROF…

They had different ammo types though, so if you’re far behind enemy lines you’re better off switching to the enemy’s gun so you can feed of your victim’s ammo.

But yeah the rest is all the same.

Still not sure if I like the symmetry being brought back again after QW. But then again, I already got an idea for a mod to bring super asymmetry in the game.

Weapon won’t be restricted by class, but rather by body type. It won’t have the ‘Engineer always uses a shotgun’ syndrome. If you can’t use a big gun, it’s because you’re not a big guy, which makes sense. About snipers, I will use excerpts from interviews:

“We don’t have any really hardcore sniping in this game. There is a more accurate rifle that fires a bit slower, but the whole sniper alley thing just isn’t enough fun for enough players."

“There won’t be any snipers poppin’ headshots from 2 miles down the road…When you and I are killing each other, I can see the whites of your eyes.”

Class abilities, this is what I’ve read:

Engineer:
They construct and repair objects, can build turrets (perhaps more) can lay landmines, and can upgrade the power of teammate’s weapons.

Medic:
They can heal wounded teammates, revive downed teammates,
and increase their total health.

Soldiers:
can supply the team with ammo and plant explosives. (They may have access to more weapons than the other classes, like in previous games.)

Operative:
They can disguise as fallen enemy players, interrogate to get information, and can also hack into
security terminals and sabotage equipment.

You will also be able to ‘purchase’ and/or unlock upgrades for all the classes.

Aye and I would like to try that hussle that up further a bit. Super agile soldiers with powerful weapons on the one hand and mediocre guys with vehicles on the other.

Landmines? source?

Not saying I don’t believe you, just can’t remember reading it myself atm

(H0RSE) #11

I heard them mention landmines in some interviews…please don’t make me find them.

One of the videos clearly shows a big round dish in the player’s hands.

(H0RSE) #13

In the Container City 3 video, when he pulls up the radial menu in the beginning, one of the choices is ‘disarm enemy mines.’

Thanks for taking the time to find a solid reference H0rse
