that and some people have been playing for a couple months as well
What am I missing?
My current views with the game as it stands now are:
I instinctively want to strafe in 1-on-1s to avoid fire but it makes tracking very random due to spread/low framerate/being slowed when hit, though this has improved a bit with config tweaks.
My PC can’t cope very well with full servers, even on min-spec settings.
Mid-range combat is ok but there isn’t much of that.
The jumping is awkward after two jumps.
Movement speed is pretty good now (until you get hit) but the whole thing just feels a bit clunky for some reason, whether its the map clutter, the pause before you start sprinting/moving I’m not sure.
Get flanked too much and shot in the back, probably my fault not checking minimap often enough, but the map layouts make it easy to flank - I score a lot my kills this way in return.
Slow reload / small clip size / high ROF maybe means I die a lot reloading more than other games. One clip per kill usually means after a kill another player will finish me off, that’s down to teamwork though I guess.
There are a lot of very good pro players to contend with of which I am not one.
I’m getting old
This all sounds a bit negative but to be honest the game is great for an alpha
This.
I personally would love to see slightly lower ROF but slightly higher accuracy + damage (QW Lacerator / Assualt Rifle style) - at the moment i feel like the ROF is encouraging spraying, people are dodging a lot more due to the movement speed and ultimately the firefights can get a bit messy as they can take a while because of inaccuracy + wasting an entire clip results in both players reloading. Also because of this ROF you are constantly reloading for low clip size weapons, and it really does make it extremely difficult to pull of multikills in this game - something which i find very rewarding and fun in a game.
Soldier and fops can multi-kill fairly well at this point. Soldier 4-5 and FOPS 3-4 it seems. Medic is good at 1v1, but is purposefully not able to get more than 1-2 kills in a clip. This is meant to help balance their sustainability and I like it a lot.
At the moment the feels like a mix of CS and W:ET. Trying to please both sides with the aiming and movement but fails on both. I can’t get the multiple headshots from distance with either style. In CS there were bursts with AK and in W:ET while strafing and shooting or however you liked
Strafing in DB is like skating on ice with the accelerations when changing directions and also the strafe speed is so slow.
I would just ignore the CS/COD/BF players and make the shooting and movement as it was in RTCW/W:ET so there would be some feel to it. Too much compromises have gone wrong already in two previous games.
Agreed. I don’t think it’s possible to marry such different styles of shooters. There are also so few fps that have got it right - best SD pick their poison and stick with it as an odd hybrid won’t please either side.
I just started playing DB but agree with the original post in this thread. So far the game has been exceptionally frustrating. Understand that I just started so I may be off base here.
…
This definitely applies to me. Every weekend I think “Yeah, let’s try Dirty Bomb again” and then 15 minutes and a K/D ratio of 2/25 later I’m getting frustrated and quit the game. Thinking I could be doing something more useful and pleasing with my weekend time. It doesn’t matter if it’s a 1vs1 match or a full server I just keep getting mowed down.
If the quote below is correct maybe some kind of noob-server could be the solution?
besides your post about movement, is how weapons feel right now. They feel like they are superlightweight waterguns, way to easy to control, on some weapons its fine (like the soldier guns). Idk whether it is right to increase slightly the recoil/kick of the weapon. Or it only comes from the super light sound of the weapons. Right now weapons feel like in every other Unreal Engine F2P shooter game. Something is missing, the real DB weapon feel, imo they have too less character/emotions/temper call it what you want, maybe it comes from being slightly too artificial. this really concerns me… I dont play F2P games because every F2P shooter feels exactly the same, there is no exception.
Why is that important to you. Try playing the objectives. That is what this game is about not your kill score.
Why? Because if I get killed in almost every firefight with my enemy I won’t be able to succeed in any objective. Some situations:
While I go to the vehicle I come across an enemy, get killed within 2 seconds and try again.
I pickup a carryable, run half the path and get killed again.
If this keeps going on and on the game won’t be any fun to me. I’m missing the secondary objects of W:ET, ET:QW, and Brink which could be really in advance for my team. So far, I feel completely useless in 95% of the matches I’ve played.
im in a similar situation as far as kills go. which is partly due to some great players.
you have to think sneaky, combine weapons with the world, use your old et tricks here.
use a wall to bounce a nade off, put a turrett on a bus shelter, put a mine where it blends in.
oh and dont bother carrying stuff, try support instead.
step back and think ahead about where an enemy is going to be rather than where he is.
art of war i think.
I was the same a few weeks ago, but I feel I have improved at last. A lot of it is down to config - I really lowered my mouse sensitivity (movement in this game isn’t lightning fast and it helps a lot in tracking) and it made a big difference, as did setting everything to bare minimum (I get between 40-60fps now rather than 20-40 which was unplayable). Playing eng you will die A LOT in this game though, but there is the shOPtgun ;). Still get those games where its 2/25 but its usually down to teamwork, you really are dead quick on your own + some weapons I just can’t get the hang of e.g. the sniper rifle + the fldops smg, or soldier mp / ticklestick. The teamwork is the thing I’m really enjoying about this game atm.
