What about false accusations and false reporting?

haha i got put in warning mode on the forums here for mentioning cheating.lol.even though after warning me for still questioning about cheaters and not enough being done the very next game i went in had a aimbot in which i recorded .

go youtube search for them and see its rife at the moment.its a shame as its a great game possibly best fps game i played in years being ruined by a few free multihacks.

False reports? LOL. I am not even sure legit reports against hackers does anything.

You were not “put in warning mode” for mentioning cheating. Everyone who reads the forums knows that does not happen here so the people you’re trying to appeal to immediately know that you are lying. It’s a common topic that people discuss because it’s an important element of online gaming that people need to understand. So constructive/critical discussion is not limited and is, in fact, encouraged.

I explained exactly why you were given a warning multiple times and it had nothing to do with you mentioning cheating. I also explained that what you do next on this forum is up to you. I guess you made your choice.

“…give it to a very experienced player with good aim (like Amerika for instance) and they will literally turn into a god.”

Yeah, that’s truly scary. I’m sure it happens. It seems like it would be fairly easy to get away with too if that player has already made a name for him/herself or is in an established competitive team. No one would ever suspect them. I don’t even follow that scene but I’ve heard about previously respected pro players from Counter Strike getting busted in competition.

I’ve always wondered about the reasons why people who were already so damned amazing at something cheat but after seeing how rampant things like PED use is in professional sports, it wouldn’t surprise me to see it rear it’s ugly head in e-sports as well. Everyone’s looking for that edge. Sometimes, even the pros.

Anyway, thanks for the info’ @Dox and @B. Montiel.

I don’t understand what the point of cheating in Dirty Bomb is? You don’t get anything out of it except increased EXP rates if you do it a lot and play a lot. Sure, you’ll get a little more credits, but it’s nothing huge. Other games have various rewards and such which give reason to cheat. Dirty Bomb lacks this. I remember back playing AVA, people only cheated because it was impossible to gain euros at a decent rate without doing so (once past a certain level). Most cheaters stuck to co-op modes though so earn euros.

The only explanation I’ve ever received from a cheater is that they’re doing it to test out their hacking/programming/coding skills and stuff like that. Some say they do it for the reactions, but even then, how long will you just do it for the reactions? Considering you’ll get the same reactions every match you play, there’s just no point. It’s not even amusing because most people just leave the game.

If someone has an answer, please tell me, because I have yet to think of a good reason for someone to cheat on Dirty Bomb.

Amen.

I think it’s possible that in some cases, that’s exactly why some of them do it: they think it will speed up the grind required to level up, unlock mercs, etc.
You’re right @Sploosh, it’s nothing huge but there’s a lot of misconceptions about how dirty bomb works. (there’s still plenty of “DB is Pay to Win” attitudes out there) Aside from testing their programming/hacks I don’t get it either man. It’s too bad they don’t use their programming talent for something better.

I have another question (okay maybe a few): I know some of these cheats cost money and others are free. With the amount of f2p games I see on these players accounts (when it’s not a private profile) I can’t see them paying just to cheat in a single game, especially one that’s not that popular atm and is still in beta.

-How does it work when they pay? Do they get like a bundle of hacks for multiple games or something?

-The majority of these cheats have to be free right? Aren’t the free ones easier to detect? Why do they still plague us?

-I don’t have any real clue as to how programming for anti cheat systems work, but couldn’t an update with a few lines of code mess up the cheats and force them to re-write their cheats? Eventually they get tired of fixing it and just give up?

Really not sure @Pumpaloaf I don’t know anything about how cheats work.

Also, an example of projectile aimbot.

For me Sploosh good/bad are extremely subjective. One of main reasons I believe people cheat is because the experience makes them feel good. They will keep doing it so long as it keeps making them feel good, kind of like using a drug. So for those players, feeling good is a good enough reason for them to cheat but a bad reason when considering the community on the whole.

The CS:GO thing was actually because there were players were hiding hacks and aimbots in their firmware, and because they were respected high-level players and never had a problem with VAC, who also used expensive custom mice that had their own firmware settings, nobody batted an eye until some of them told everyone about it.

If I recall, nobody got arrested but people got barred from major tournaments as a result. There was also supposedly a cheat that downloaded inconspicuously from the Steam workshop that got 3 people VAC banned during tournaments.

Never really thought about it like that. So basically, people are doing it for their egos?

(Sorotia) #32

Including you yourself lol

It’s also about self-esteem. They can’t be bad at something if they don’t try, correct?

There are also people who just hate losing so they do everything they can to ensure that they never lose.

(doxjq) #34

Kinda. I think it’s more that they get some kinda feeling of satisfaction knowing that people think they’re good. If that makes sense. I can kind of relate. While I don’t hack people do compliment me on my aim a bit, and it does make you feel good, so it figures.

(The_N00Ba) #35

yeah Sploosh. Both Dox and Nibbles bring up good cases. There are more reasons though I think and I bet most of them are still very personal. Some reasons may be even more tragic than others.

(Amerika) #36

There are tons of reasons why people cheat. And some of them have multiple reasons. I’ve written about it quite a few times on this forum so I won’t rehash too much. But it boils down to personal feelings of accomplishment even if it’s false, some people simply find it fun and not morally wrong (it’s just a game, bro!), the desire to troll, the notoriety it can gain a person who is seeking attention, the fear that everyone else is cheating so you need to arm yourself, wanting to hit back/revenge against somebody/some company you dislike, money that could be made from cheating, social events like groups from a forum “breaking” a game when new cheats hit (why this stuff comes in waves a lot), the desire to show a company how broken their game is so you’re “helping” by cheating and many other reasons or combinations of all of those reasons.

If I had a better psychology background I could probably write a pretty decent paper on the mentalities that drive players to cheat in online games.
