"We've got the objective" audio announcement delay

(AssortedStuff) #1

I found it strange that there seems to be a delay from the point someone has picked up the objective to actually being announced to their team.
Not sure if intentional or not, that’s why I din’t post this in the ‘bugs’ section.

Had never paid attention to it until this last weekend, attacking in Whitechapel. Got the objective from the EV and only when I was nearing the further arch (under the rail track) that the announcement was heard.

I would assume its to stop people from spamming it

i think this delay usually has to do with queued up announcements.

they’ve dropped the objective…
…stop them from delivering the bloody objective…
… they’ve got the objective, stop them!..

Speaking of which, the amount of announcer feedback spam with the delivery objective on Whitechapel makes me want to put my head through my desk.

The announcer is quite irritating, hopefully SD looks at it before the final release. It is spammy and even when setting good objective times it still curses.

‘cursing’ is awesome, keep it in there; to keep it light and wacky. The spam issue is definitely there, but primarily with delivery objectives.

edit: I’d definitely welcome QW style objective announcements as floating text, rather than rely on the announcer to call every single event.

‘x has the objective’

‘x has dropped the objective’

‘objective returned by y’

Announcer can stay until you are level 4 or sth; and shut up since : P

QW is also more personal as it displays the (fancy coloured) name of the player doing the objective.

Regarding the announcements to do with the team picking up/ dropping the objective, there should be an option to have it as a text only alert (not audio). I say option because some players would like to have the audible cues (not my case though).
I’ve been playing another game where they have it as an onscreen text alert and it works well.

Yup, this is most certainly on our radar.

Giving a shoutout to the players completing their objectives etc is certainly something that we want to do.
