Dome is an ancient bad map, but since the rework, it a very good map. The first objective can be deliver easily if your team fight in one way, you can go to the other way and go ninja deliver (just be aware of the mines). Only bad point is the low performance of the map for potato Pc.
Last objective of chapel and first of bridge are very hard to attack, even with a good team. If you don’t have a good Kira or skyhammer, the last objective of chapel is one of the hardest objective. You can get stomped in the beginning and still win in the last part when defending.
When teams are uneven, first objective of bridge is very hard because of defenders can stay with very good cover at the only point they must defend. If they are aware of proxy ninja repair, it’s impossible to complete.
well game just finished...lets go chapel server.
I actually like Dome. I’m not a fan of the second objective since either side is so far away from the attackers spawn in comparison to the defenders but with the amount of routes you have to push towards those objectives it kind of makes up for it.
people arguing about dome just dont get the best maps are the simplest !
dome has too many routes ! that is why it doesnt work.all great maps in all great games are simple.
look at chapel.its basically just a long road.
look at under ground basically just a one way to objective odd side split.
look at dome here there and everywhere.it tries to be too clever.so its annoying to play.
simple layout
Dirty Bomb is far from a simple game. Think about the movement, abilities, and just variety in health/speed.
I’m fine with simplicity, but it depends on how that simplicity is executed. Let me stop you at Chapel; it is not a simple map. Sure, the idea of one long road is simple, but that is NOT Chapel. Chapel contains secondary objectives, an okay amount of jumps (many of which are just for advancing forward quicker), and on the last part- lines of sight everywhere. Every map in Dirty Bomb is like this. None of them are simple. Simple is a map with limited cover, and 2-3 pathways.
Imagine a square. Now inside of that square. you can draw 3 lines. These lines can’t intersect, but you can draw them straight, diagonal, or make them into shapes within the square. 1 line is when you must lift your pen off of the paper.
Imagine that… You cannot add anything else. You just have those 3 lines which can create routes. However, you will eventually meet the enemy head-on and there’s no way for you to flank them. THAT is simple. I have played games like this and those games are simple. There are no abilities; just guns and maybe grenades. You can actually go onto a game website in your browser and find one of those games.
Also, from what I remember, the best maps were always the ones with something special to them. Whether it’s something unique or just the overall feel. Maps like Rust from Modern Warfare 2, though small, it had tons of spots/lines of sights and the center of the map was completely vertical. It appeared to be simple, but it was far from it. Then there’s a map like Nuketown (referencing CoD because it’s well-known). Nuketown is a straightforward map, but even that has buildings, cover, and different ways to play. People love those 2 maps because they put you right back in the action. However, those same people hate those maps because if you’re losing, you lose. There’s little opportunity for comebacks on maps like that. People tend to get frustrated at such maps as well because they spawn and get killed by a guy who happened to spawn in a better position.
Then you have arguably the best map from the Battlefield Bad Company games: Oasis. This map, along with Harvest Day, was remade after BFBC2 came out because people loved them so much in BFBC1. Both of those maps are anything but simple. They’re expansive, with a variety of gameplay- close-quarters to sandbox type battles.
A game with maps that aren’t normally simple is Team Fortress 2. Look at that game. I only have about 40 hours into it, but never played on any maps which could be considered simple. A lot of them had tons of routes and elevators.
There are tons of other games to name as examples. I know there are some games with simple maps as well which were really successful. I believe Counter Strike has “simple” maps, but I have not played it so I wouldn’t know. It’s also very different from Dirty Bomb.
~Sorry for the stupid essay. Was just trying to clarify what I meant. Simplicity is subjective. Depending on the person, it varies. A simple layout is good, but a lot of people would like that simple layout to be expanded upon to make for much more entertaining and varied gameplay.
Just my opinion though.
was reading your paragraphs taking it in then seen Rust and mw2 then just ignored the rest
Well I could have used maps from other games that most people have never played or just aren’t as well known, but I figured one of, if not the most popular shooters of all time would be a good example (despite it getting so much hate, this fact cannot be argued).
