Weird strafing pattern I noticed

(RectalTerror) #1

I’ve noticed something weird, not because it’s not humanly doable, just weird because
-it’s recent (a month maybe)
-I’ve seen it done by different, unrelated players

Basically, some players seem to strafe “a bit too well”, in a way that I hadn’t seen before. They move left, right, and crouch. Nothing weird so far, but I’ve noticed a pattern, when they enter a fight, they always first strafe to the (their) right, and crouch for half a second, then strafe to the left, crouch, etc. In a pattern that always looks similar.

Again nothing wrong with that, other than it seems unusually smooth, and it’s a pattern/choregraphy I’d expect to see 1 player do, but not different, unrelated players. They can’t all be the same smurf, and I doubt there’s some kind of new “dodging school” out there.
Not saying it’s necessarily “assisted”, but considering those players were also pretty good…

Am I the only one having noticed this? Or is there a discussion/post somewhere advising to use that pattern, that could result in different players doing it?

Those people are called ET players…

Again, I’ve been playing DB for quite some time, and it’s only now that I notice that.

I don’t remember that in ET, though. But that was so long ago…
I was pretty good in fights back then - not sure if it’s because I was younger, or because fights used to last much longer. These days you kill or die in a fraction of a second…

That’s why you should try to aim the neck, slightly on the left, to ensure that most of your shots will hit the head without needing to move the mouse too much.

I kinda do that instinctively and i try to fix that habit. Everytime i pay attention to mix up my pattern i get shot less.

That’s why I stab them.

@stayfreshshoe , new mechanic needed!

strafe/fart-punch…

Whenever strafe-firing is combined with a crouch, player will have an 85% RNG chance of a fart-punch that disorients/green-tinges the user screen for 1-2.8 seconds combined w/ local area concussion blast that affects friendlies, except stoker/phoenix who are immune per filter masks…

MAKE THIS HAPPEN!!!

(i find it hard to believe that f@rt is a naughty word…everyone passes gas…)

sounds like a bind

If you bind mouse2 to your crouch command, you can “bounce strafe”

It’s an old 2014 trick by ET players…

Hello…

It’s 2018

I usually aim for the chest because my aim is terrible. Always makes me laugh when someone crouches to try to dodge my bullets, because they usually just move their face right into where I’m aiming anyways, lol

ET players… in 2014??

Anyway, I’d like to believe you, but why would this only appear NOW? We should be seeing this since the early days of DB.

Possibly a revival. Marginally effective against me really as I know the bounce
