weird error message

Can anyone tell me what this error message means “default_model/skin (multi/) failed to register”, I’ve worked out that I get it when I put in rotating doors but i’m not sure how to fix the problem. I have 305 func_explosive entities but I can’t see how that would affect the rotating doors. Its strange because wolf will totally load the map and come up with the limbo screen, but freeze and return to the main window with the error. :???:

What is the total entity count on your map on start up - just type /entitycount in the console when you map first loads.

BTW- SP or MP map?

I had this exact same error happen to me back in January with my office map. I wanted to make every window explosive, but evidently the wolf engine can’t handle that many explosive entities.

Seeing that you have 300-some func_explosives, it looks like you are hitting the same limits. I would imagine that when you add that func_door you’re pushing your map over some sort of entity limit. Not neccessarily an entity count limit, but maybe an entity memory limit.

I was never crystal-clear on the cause, but it definitely is fixed by lowering your func_explosive entity count.

Here was the very long (and painful) thread I started about this problem. If you’re a member of the tramdesign forum you can check it out.
