Weekly challenges

(hoyes) #1

Through the common complaints that came from the crafting system I thought of an idea to sort of combat the lack of progression that it has.
Weekly challenges would be week-long task which give high rewards. These rewards would be especially helpful towadds getting the loadout you want, and also gives people something extra to work for your selected loadout. Examples:

-Massacre=Get 400 kills as a assualt merc- 5 weapon kits and 1crafting kit
-Spotter=Spot 300 people with aimee or vassili-18hr credit booster
-Support=Give 350 ammo packs-Combined elite case
-Medic= Heal a total of 7000hp- 25 equipment cases

These accompanied with a reduction to the costs of fragments(16000), credits (26000) amd weapon kits (25) on cobalt crafting, would see people be able to get their cards a bit faster, and with less rng toward one they want as they are able to get more weapon kit
s.So what does everybody think?

id like those kinda challenges, makes me wanna have something to work for each game.

I like the idea of having a weekly mission to work towards instead of a menial one every 4 hours, but those rewards are a bit off, especially the medic one.

It’s not that hard to heal 7000 hp over a few games, since an average player will die 10 or more times in a regular match which is about 1000 hp worth of healing if you revive them every time, not to mention med stations and general mass-healing. Also the reward for that is equivalent to 25,000 credits, which is a bit much for just doing your job and healing people, since you can only get between 9,000 and 18,000 credits per day from missions maximum, which is, on average, barely enough to buy 1 merc per week if you’re on 24/7.

@Nibbles then maybe increase the amount of hp to 15000. I mean the examples were just examples, I’m just looking for people who would approve of the idea. The rewards are able to be changed easily if SD thinks about implementing this system.

Thats WAY to easy to get, especially the spotting one. The rewards are too high for mediocre challenges like this, there should be unique challenges like revive 300 people which would make low lvls actually revive

I’d say daily missions could refill every 4-6 hours, only with proportinally higher amount of credit awards. 3 hours per refill is an overkill, if someone strives to GRIND HARD.

@EverythingElse As i said, I’m just trying to show a concept, not the actual challenges I have shown. I am showcasing the concept of weekly challenges;the ones I put down did not have a lot of thought put into making them.

(SnakekillerX) #8

I don’t play medic a whole lot, but one of the last games I played as Sparks I got over 8000 support XP in one game, so 15000 for a weekly mission still seems a bit low to me.

I really like the idea of weekly missions, but I think the values would be best left as unknowns, and SD could fill them in using statistics that they track and deem fair.

(Jostabeere) #9

Why only favor Cobalts? I dislike those and would rather have Gold loadouts, which are a pain in the ass to get in the skin I want sinde Gold has 3 variants.

(Nibbles02) #10

I know, and I agree that this is a very good idea, but since they’d be weekly challenges, the reward should be for being exceptional at your job, like getting 500,000 total medic xp(still not that hard to get if you play a few matches every day for a week), and contributing a lot to your team.

(DarkMatterMatt) #11

Maybe get past a threshold and get a tier 1 reward, a bit higher and get tier 2, reach a massive score and get the full reward?

Maybe everyone picks a mission they want to aim for (e.g. there are 3 missions offered, and everyone picks one)

(hoyes) #12

Well cobalts seem to be the main problem that people have. I think the fragment cost is fine for golds, but the credit cost shouod be maybe 12000? Around 50% decrease in cost from what they are like the cobalts could to the trick. Also reduce credit costs of all other craftings by 20% and then Ithink the system would be fine.

While Wargaming aren’t always the best example to point at when it comes to F2P mechanics they do have this down pretty well. Most weekends run some kind of event where with enough grinding and effort you can get premium items, be it vehicles or other fun stuff. Usually this ties in with a sale of some kind.

Why not have it so that, say, for a weekend when Arty is on free rotation, if you earn enough XP or get enough kills with support mercs you would unlock him permanently, and for the vets you could get an obsidian card for Arty (or if you’ve got that give them bonus credits)?

It’s this sort of thing that keeps people coming back week after week in this day and age, so I’m totally in favour of doing something like this much more frequently than we get at the moment. If SD can make a streamlined event creation process to the point it could be done weekly/fortnightly it would do great things for the game population. The stuff at Christmas was very close to this and I think that worked really well (the trinkets moreso than the loadout cases)

(hoyes) #14

@blonk thats not a bad idea. It would give vets something to work for other than collecting all the cards and be presented with a shiny new obsidian. Cool idea.

(watsyurdeal) #15

It’d be cool to have something like this

100 Headshot kills
100 kills with abilities
100 Revives
Plant, Repair, or Defuse 25 objectives

etc

(XavienX) #16

Just as long as it’s something that encourages people for teamplay like what Watsyurdeal mentioned with the revives and repairs and stuff.

If it’s something like get 100 no scopes with bolt action snipers then I’m quitting.

(SweetGenocide) #17

I really like this idea, i would love having weekly challenges to work on to get equimpent cases, tool kits and so on, i especially like it because it turns DB’s type of work to get credits, cases and etc. Into a Warframe style of work (kind of.)

(Dysfnal) #18

@Xavien would adding a 420° rotation requirement help?
