Weapons

(H0RSE) #21

I remember that mod for UT. You had to use ironsights - there were no crosshairs on the screen.

(brbrbr) #22

but armament also can save alot of lives[in result of killing others.]
ironically, thats what for weapons are designed[especially from Point of View of creators].
people kill people, NOT guns. war action in human minds.
of course, raising overhead[of usage]/decrease L&F/ergonomics/reliability of armaments can lower casualties. sometimes. or raise in other cases.
but point is War - is TRUE face of Humanity.
sad, but true :-[

Very well said brbrbr.

Sure, people kill people, but guns definitely help. African tribes will certainly have a harder time raiding a village by just making gunshot noises.
what should do “real-world weapons” objects in fantastic/futuristic game ?
how about consistency and commons sense ?

p.s.
except trusty/rusty but working flawless AK47, maybe.
LOL The only thing that came outa Russia that actualy works.

(tokamak) #26

Vodka doesn’t kill people, people kill people, and their own nation’s economy while they’re at it.
Oh dear, not sure if you know what you are talking about. Now I love BC2 the balance is really bad, EVERY one plays sniper or medic.

Dont want your version of the game SD seem to be doing a great job as it is.
Yes, I do know what I am talking about, I play with the same couple of guys all the time, and we use each class. When we are up against the team of all medics and all snipers, its pretty much easy pickings. Battle Field Bad Company 2 has good balance of weapons and classes. If people choose not to take advantage of it then they loose. as far as camping in that game, good luck. Their is only so long you can camp before the tanks roll in. Now our russian friend who commented on common sense. Well in a post apoclyptic flooded earth, were recources are low. Maybee, just maybee industry has come to a halt, therefore advancement of industry and tecknolgy have also stoped. Therefore maybee futrastic weapons are not very sensible maybee the sensible thing would to use whats already there, espacialy since u have no means to create more, IE mine for metal gun poweder, lazers ect ect.:armadillochase:

hm, let’s hope, World never make another “actually works” discoveries.
in that context.
you will be suprised on how actually and how workin, some other things can be.
first and last time.

but talking more seriously, Russia now completely Ruined.
mainly by country management. intentionally.
both preparing for annihilation and/or separation.
i don’t know what worser.
and don’t care much[as before].
cause Russia left big, bleeding hole in place of my heart.
forever.
[and with love]

Would all this sell as a poetic bundle?

Weapons loosely based on real word weapons are the way to go. They don’t seem to far fetched but simultaneously allow the design to be led by a sense of imaginative aesthetic .

Although it may just be me, I think fantasy-environments are better with sci-fi weapons. As someone else said, real world weapons are basically carbon copies. CoD4, however, did weapons the best imo. Take x3 grenades, noob tubes, RPD, and claymores out of that game and it would have been skiller than it already was.

(even though MP5 and M16 were OP, this was general knowledge)

Very few of the weapons in CoD4 were the same.

Generally, games like Gears of War bring a lot to the table with innovative weapons like the Hammer of Dawn and Torque Bow (something that cannot be done in a real-world environment).

Also, games like F.E.A.R 1/2 give us guns like the “stapler” as I call it, the sniper in FEAR 2 with the visible cross-map laser sight while scoped (which makes camp sniping obvious and thus is a very good balancing factor), innovative grenades, etc.

Halo gave the entire plasma weaponry loadout, which added immense depth to gaming, although it seemed for competetive gaming the best weapons were all human (sniper, battle rifle and rocket launcher).

As far as I am concerned this game has fairly realistic weaponry, but if it is done as well as CoD4, the game might become my 2nd or 1st favorite FPS (no harm meant to ET fans, ive never played the series).
