use a detecto sweep like me and stay out of the line of fire, trust me ur not gonna be a beast when first start playin, u really have to improve over time im way better than i was at lvl 37 and i hit lvl 40 4 days ago so at first ur not gonna know how to play against him. In the words of crozzton " the best way to get better is to lose" and its true because he kicked my @%# all day once, but in the process i learned what not to do.
Weapon tweaks for devs
Giving Kate a shotgun will not be a big problem if she is a only medic in the squad. But if there are more than 2 medics in the squad, it may be too much, I afraid. I’m OK with current SMGs for medic and will be happy if melee weapons are more balanced. I would like to give shotguns to commando rather than medic. Commandos need more options.
Now that’s for sure. I’m a little perplexed why they aren’t available to Commando units but am fine without.
In order for Juan to deal that much damage he needs to be in position and standing still. He have had max 3 turns to get there with slow movement. By that time you ought to have deal some damage to his other toons or just scooted away from him. Until he is revealed you should really consider using cover to negate some of that damage. If he uses all energy standing still he is prolly standing in the middle of nowhere to get his shot meaning you can shoot him to smithereens. I don’t know wether you play 14-20-26 but 2 Juan’s is overdoing it no matter what. Your squad is “immobile” and with just a bit of movement the opponent will hit and run you to death.
Juan is crap on his own it all about the support you give him. You need the fast dude to threaten the opponent to make the mistake of breaking cover. Sometimes you can win 26 pts games without using him simply because ppl are so afraid of him they rather get shot by other toons.
I use him in 14 pts games with Kate since their synergy is awesome
But if it comes to versatility I prefer Madame.
If I want nuke and high damage Pete is our man. ( he has way better DPE (damage per energy)
I do understand he can seem unfair as well as Kate can. Especially for new players and inexperienced players. Perhaps we need a lvl option when going random.
Otherwise find someone in forums to play a lot with and use forums for advice. You will find us pretty friendly when it comes to that.

The Minimax is a little disappointing and what more the information is misleading. It is stated that it deals 84dmg at range of 5 but it only deals as much 1 square away as i recall. It deals less dmg than the LMG at a shorter range which makes it only effective as a short range weapon. The Avenger needs no change in my opinion as it is the only weapon to be able to knock back at ANY range but similar to the Minimax it is a let down and it feels more like a trophy weapon. However on LaHacque one can make 4 steps which is fair enough since it has a range of 8. Any energy reduction in the Avenger will make it too strong on LaHacque.
So like i said, Chainsaw, Avenger and Minimax are more like trophy weapons. Damn awesome to use and look at, but its not a ultimate weapon.
