Weapon tutorial guides

It’s been discussed a thousand times, but here we go…

  1. It is most effective to aim at the chest due to the spread size.
  2. Scoping and ads is a gimmick, scoping changes fov and you have to wait for an incredibly long time between firing sessions for the spread to reduce to 0.

The best tactic is to never scope, use an smg with a lot of bullets, aim at the chest, and spray. The proof is in weapon debug data and any Brink team who won something, they all use carb-9s and never scope. You can play the game however you like and pretend what your doing makes a difference, but I am sorry to inform that the one’s who actually had experience have proven that the game mechanics don’t allow you to really do much anything else if you want to be the most effective.

I actually did a mini test here

and In my opinion no scoping is better for anything other than the snipers and the Gerund(and chinzore and gotlung)

What i foudn was

1.Scoping does the same amount of spread in the end as hipfiring AND you get vertical recoil.

its just not worth it, if you wait for it to hit exactly where your scope is, then you shouldnt be playing at taht range, brink isnt a super deadly game, wait for the enemy to fill your crosshair and blast away.

Can i get rid of aim on the xbox?

(Crytiqal) #23

BUT in 1V1 all these situational bullcrap isn’t in effect so its pure about ADS or not ADS, stop making excuses

(Humate) #24

My tip:

Hold down Mouse1 cough
Thats as far as it goes technically.

The Bulpdaun and Ritchie are good for ADS, and all assault rifles require ADS after the weapon update. Most other guns do have an increase in accuracy, but not enough to be worth it.

Using only the Carb-9 and never scoping is low-level play, especially post-patch. The “competitive scene” for this game is quite pathetic and I don’t really consider their techniques or procedures to be valid, since the teams themselves have admitted that they hate the game and don’t take it seriously.

The stuff that you call “bullcrap” is the core of the game. BRINK is a team game and 1v1s are a silly way to prove anything in that environment.

Concur-- though even with the guns that usually aren’t worth it, situational factors can make ADS desirable.

(DarkangelUK) #27

1v1, a form of game play used to determine how skillful players aim and tactics are, is a silly way to prove a players aim? As excuses go to getting out of a 1v1 to prove that you’re full of crap, this ranks up there with the worst.

(Crytiqal) #28

But we werent discussing the core of the game but the effect of ADS or no ADS, seriously omfg

(iezza) #29

tuh, i could own anyone’s ass without shooting.

Give me a light, and an SMG with a bayonet

Stab stab.

(Apoc) #30

Get a team of your choosing, ill get a team. My team wont use ads at all. Yet we will also not let you get out of your spawn.

You sir are daft. People hate the game for a lot of reasons… the fact that the carb-9 is one of the only viable weapon choices is one of those reasons. I hope you don’t mind losing to low-level play pathetic invalid comp-tards lmao. All these mr. brink-experts are phuuuuuuuuuuny.

Can anyone just get me a 30 sec gameplay footage.

PC users, it is only a 30 second clip, it can have watermark or not, i dont care, PLEASE!

No one has the game installed. Spectator mode in Brinktv matches only had 3rd cam spec. I doubt many had a good enough PC to record while playing because of lack of demo support. I am pretty sure most comp people don’t bother to look at the forum anymore. Maybe Apoc or Sam recorded something, cuz it’s their thing and I think they have good PCs; plus they placed in ESL so it’s not like they don’t have xp.

(Fetter) #34

1v1 is not a valid form of determining team game skill. If you think 1v1 determines how skillful a player is at a game where all interactions are predicated on one’s team, I don’t know what to say.

Every element of the game, including the decision whether or not to ADS, is contingent on the teamplay core of the game.

(Humate) #35

Every 1v1 fight you engage in and win, you give your team a number advantage. You also take away the area that player controls away from them…for your team. Combat is the only way in which teams can differentiate each other, because class actions cancel out with one simple button press. And this is Brinks biggest flaw.

In ETQW - class actions have a risk tied to them. If you pick the wrong time to help someone, you will get smashed. If you defib a team-mate without killing the guy who killed your team-mate first… you will get destroyed. This is why players value 1v1 skills. These skills allow you to do all the class actions for your team. And this is why the best players at combat take on the Medic role.

Haha. I remember back in the pre-release days there were a few posters that were all pissed off because SD was including ADS at all (which I thought was a stupid thing to argue about; if you don’t like them, don’t use them; simple) Anyway it seems SD’s solution to please everyone was to include them but make them useless, if not somewhat detrimental even. Well done, lol.

On a sidenote, it would have been nice if ironsighting/scoping worked in BRINK like it did in Borderlands, where it slightly reduced the size of a given weapons shot-deviation cone but made movement much slower. At least then it would be a strategic decision and have a place in hipfire-centric FPS.

Something that would have given the player the ability to have control over what was going on would have been nice. I prefer the ET style aiming, but if not the tap fire method would have made more sense than the brand new “pray your bullets hit somewhere near the middle of this big ole circle” system lmao.

If you say something like that, then the statement relates purely to aim, stop hiding behind ‘core gameplay’ nonsense and take the challenge. The fact that ADS has no influence on accuracy, spread etc. renders the option pointless, slows you down and makes you a sitting duck… which would be very evident in a 1v1 situation. Sounds to me like you’re wishing you never said it now.

(BioSnark) #39

It does have some influence on most weapons, even if that doesn’t outweigh the drawbacks.
