The new weapon system is being criticized by a lot of people for many reasons including: the RNG factor, wears/floats, and the exclusivity to paying for them. This system been tested and proven successful in so many games, and for good reason. Although many of you have expressed that you are not willing to spend money on this game, many people will be purchasing these skins which will fund the game. This benefits everyone in the long run, as without these contributing players, Dirty Bomb would not continue to develop into a better game like it has been doing in the past months. For those not willing to spend money on this system, just know this: Splash Damage need an income to keep this game running. People accusing SD of being money hungry and comparing them to the likes of EA have the wrong idea. This is a purely cosmetic system that does not effect any gameplay unlike a similar situation to do with micro-transactions in the news recently. The “high” prices are also laying the foundation for a stable Steam Market to that of CS:GO later on (at least I’m assuming, devs correct me if I’m wrong), which many contributing players will be pleased with later on. This system will not only bring in new players to grow the playerbase, which is much needed to better matchmaking and more, but will also provide contributing players with more opportunities to customize their loadouts in return for their contribution. People who are choosing not to support the game, whether for the reason of not supporting the system, not being interested in the system, or sadly, for some, can simply not afford the system then please understand that it really will not affect you. In the latest FAQ it has been stated that event weapon skins can be earned without spending any money, which gives the people listed before a chance to participate in the system. In my opinion, this system isn’t harmful to anyone as it does not implement a pay-to-win feature and can reward players for grinding in the event, or for contributing to this amazing game. I personally like the features it will bring. Wear ratings make pristine variants more valuable and special, giving certain items a bigger worth and rarity. Some worn variants could also look fairly cool to some, adding for more variety. Overall, this system is a great change, though not affecting some. Options have been provided by SD for those not interested in the system to at least benefit from it in terms of fragments. Hopefully I have cleared some things up for some, but if I have missed anything or have misunderstood something, please let me know. I know there are 2 sides of people with opinions on this system, but I truly believe SD has done a good job with its implementation.

You sure you’re playing Dirty Bomb?
@Melinder Do you not agree that there has been great UI changes and that the addition of new mercs and maps has been good for the game?
While I understand where you are coming from, I think Dirty Bomb was doing just fine without CS:GO float values added to it. I was really excited for this system until they just basically announced they are going full CS:GO on me. I hate the cosmetic system in CS:GO and never use it, I always just bought the skins I wanted off of the market. But Dirty Bomb doesn’t have that option. If I want those skins, I have to gamble for them and have a high likely-hood of not getting the skin and wear that I want. I will literally lose my effing mind if they put wear backwards on the skins I already have.
Overall, this is just severely disappointing and a step in the wrong direction for customization. It could have been such a gigantic victory for the game, but they took some bad steps (different wear, cases that now require keys to open, all new skins being locked behind a paywall, etc.) I’m just really not excited for how it’s looking. Maybe it’ll get better later but my hype has been broken.

I swear…the devs keep swinging this more and more like a game I left that was poorly developed…silly nerfs/buffs to the point where they buff easy things while nerfing to hell hard things.
Now gamble boxes requiring keys…all it needs is you being spammed with these gamble boxes so they’re basically worthless if you don’t plan to open them.

No, nor do the player count numbers.

The old UI was just fine, the new one is bugged.
I like the new mercs, but Guardian’s both abilities are bugged.
Most people don’t like the weapon balance changes though, and both of my favourite primaries (the Stark and the Grandeur) got ****ed with an anchor. At least the shotgun changes were reasonable.

And slow as a snail.
So, to resume things, you think that adding rng skin boxes and steam market will attract players to the game ? What exactly players are looking for in a game then ? The ability to earn money ? Maybe it’s their last chance to bring players back after removing the fun from the game. [/rant]
Basically, Dirty Bomb feels the same as it was 2 years ago. I’m not enough a connaisseur to feel the effect of weapon changes (except for the FEL-IX one), so i’m still having fun in public matches (even though i would sometimes see a slower version of it). But if you look back, what have been made ? We have more maps, which is great ! We have more mercs, which is so-so, some of them are useful (Sparks, Phoenix, Stoker), others weren’t needed (Javelin). We have a crafting system, which is a simplier version of the previous trade-up system but without any sense of progression. And… that’s all.
And as @Melinder stated, all these contents didn’t retain players. So those weapon skin boxes won’t in any way bring them back because this is just not what they’re asking for.
If a player’s only reason for sticking around is to customize their weapons then… no, I don’t want them here
We need more players that stick around because they enjoy the game, not for the customizing content they earn. That’s the problem with the player base of most games like Overwatch and CS:GO these days… toxic people that hate the game but love all of the skins they’ve earned, so they continue playing with a shitty attitude instead of quitting.
So no… I’m not excited for it.

Are you serious, mate? People have been gambling already with default loadout cards, if on the other hand you mean how cs:go had people gambling each other for skins, it’s likely to come.
My only question, will the Alienware and Logitech skins become skin cards? Because they’re literally bronze with a unique weapon skin…

100% agree with this. The Logitech and Alienware loadouts should be converted into weapon skins.
I would say the humble bundle as well but iirc the merc skins are different too so its alright I guess

Yes, the humble bundle skins give a red and grey tone to your merc. So they are more than just a weapon skin.

And the newest one is even more slow.
It takes like 0,4 second to bring up a menu - and no, my PC doesn’t suck, I have 180-200FPS regularly at max graphics in DB
