Weapon reload times

So as of right now, you cock your gun every time you reload, even if you reload from a partially full magazine. I am not a gun nut, but don’t you only have to cock your gun when you completely empty your magazine so you can put a new round in the chamber?

You can hit shift (sprint) to cancel reloading after you put in a new magazine but before you cock your gun, and this trick works even when you’ve fired the last round.

This is very annoying while I’m fighting for my life, and takes away from the immersion of the game. I think it would be more immersive and accurate for DB to reduce reload times if you’re reloading with at least 1 round left, and increase the time to where you can fire from a full magazine to after you cock your gun.

I am horrible at explaining things, so please let me know if any of this doesn’t make sense.

Every time it says cock, I mean c 0 c k, censorship.

This isn’t a realistic tactic00000000000l shooter like cod or bf, get over it.
Game mechanics are more important than realism.

^yeah that, would mess up with reload time weapon balance and also the usefulness of Drilled and Double Time.

realistic tactical LIKE COD OR BATTLEFIELD ???

As a former Battlefield enthusiast I feel deeply offended.

I don’t mind. It’s just another mechanic for me and I don’t think it’s necessary to change that.

I actually have a fun trivia fact for you

I was around and in contact with Infinity Ward devs when Call of Duty 1 came out. It was created to be an arcade shooter that simplified the FPS formula down to point and shoot and not have to worry about things like strafe jumping or even consistent aim. Their whole goal was to make a fast paced but mechanically light arcade shooter. It was never intended to be realistic. People make that mistake sometimes because of the super low Time to Kill giving it a more realistic feel…but in reality that was just a way to allow players to not have to feel frustrated because they didn’t get a kill when they clicked on somebody.

And as far as the topic of this thread is concerned I don’t mind because I’d rather have a consistent play experience in a game as opposed to reflecting accuracy from real life. I shoot and own quite a few guns myself and I have no desire to play a game that emulates how you treat them in reality when it can mess up gameplay.

Well, turn off sprint to reload cancel in options

(blisteringOwlNest) #9

^ I did that. Not as useful as you’d think. Impossible to easily reload cancel, or escape when your reloading. Unfortunately I forget to change it when I play… XD

its very useful; if you are trying to escape you should switch to your knife anyways.
