Weapon pickups

Currently loving the amount of ammo mercs are rolling with. I end up having to use pistols and eventually melee due to running out of ammo. reminds me of insane last stands in wolf. Also makes the ammo dropping mercs that much more valuable.

One thing I loved about wolf though was being able to pick up other peoples guns, especially grabbing a Thompson as axis. Going though 2 or 3 other peoples guns and emptying them too felt soooo epic. There were even times I sought out a Thompson, such as for defending certain parts of the levels. I think it would be really awesome to have the ability to grab up other weapons in game, perhaps only within sub-class or something? Anyways, just a suggestion.

while it would be a lot of fun at the start, it would easily destroy any kind of metagame and cause a whole lot of unforseen balancing issues
imagine if Aura would get a hold of some beefy LMG, that wouldn’t be so fun anymore

aura could pick up any weapon her loadouts or sawbones loadouts could have

Given the restraint that a class that uses SMGs can only pick up SMGs, etc, etc, I don’t see why this couldn’t be done. It really sucks when nobody on your team gives ammo, and the nearest ammo box is in a position that leaves you extremely vulnerable (for example defenders having to use the ammo box on the first phase of Terminal which is placed on the attackers’ side of the map).

hm yeah I guess that could work, but I still don’t really see the appeal of it
would lower the importance of ammo support in a way, which I wouldn’t really be a fan of

I played a couple of matches this past weekend where pretty much everyone was out of ammo and the person who could provide it was oblivious to the crowd following them begging for it, lol. I’m sure that will even out somewhat as more people get acclimated to the game and learn what to do to contribute to their team. That being said, I would sure like to be able to pick up a gun if there were no other options available. :slight_smile:

for this ammo crysis there would be a nice sort of solution: A visual marker off the ammo status of your teammates. because an ‘ammo’ in the chat is not that helping.

there are ammo crates on every map. It is a good idea to learn their locations, for those times your FOPS doesn’t understand that not giving ammo, constitutes “being a DICK”

I’m sure once there are more alround mercs with ammo this will settle a bit. For example on udnergound noone plays Arty or skyhammer and afaik those where the only ammo guys this week end.
to be honest the only class i had ammo problems with was the fragger because the lmg just chews trough ammo and the starting pool is a little bit low ( i think i can make one full reload)
my idea was giving him some ammo ability as a secondary gadget or something but depends on what they do with him. i would like to see a ‘deeper pockets’ perk in a LMG laodout forhim sofar it’s only combined with that BR.

What about picking up ammo from fallen enemys if they have the same weapon type?

fieldops already have such marker for people that have requested ammo (v.2.2). Similarly to how you see healthpacks across the map if you are low on health
