Weapon model size

(Rex) #1

For me the weapon model (+hand) is still too big which is distracting.

So I made a comparison with QW:
(Note: QW fov 110, DB fov 105, DB fov doesn’t affect the weapon model size)

Standing still:

The size in DB is even better than in QW, but I have to mention that you never really stood still in this game. So the “standing still size” is ok.

Walking:

Sprinting:

Here it’s also ok.

Walking + jumping:

Walking + shooting:

Yes, please reduce weap model size from your pov.

Also, reloading while sprinting.

Never paid attention to it but your hand is the size of a foam hand. I’ve seen bears with smaller mittens then those.

model size need to be linked to the FOV

I steal Funky’s favourite video for a response:

I might need my eyes checked. The only screenshot where the DB weapon is really larger than the ETQW one is walking + shooting. In the other ones, I’d say that the ETQW weapon takes up more space. The main difference seems to be that the weapon in DB is more towards the center of the screen.

I do agree that the hand seems to be quite big compared to the gun, but I’ve never held a gun in real life, I’m just going by assumptions from other games. Maybe the medic just has huge hands?

(Kendle) #9

Don’t so much have a problem with gun model size as I do with muzzle flash. I find that very distracting and wouldn’t mind an option to remove it, tho I wouldn’t want to go as far as removing the gun entirely. However the Unreal engine has an option for reduced size weapon model as far as I’m aware, so I guess it’s do-able (no idea how much work it would involve tho).

(Bangtastic) #10

i think its just a matter of taste, i prefer the db positioning over the QW, even though they are pretty equal

(Mustang) #11

I too prefer the DB positions so far, except for the MP, hands on that are just weird every time.

(Ashog) #12

ETQW gun models were smaller, here’s the proof:

For those who didn’t get what I mean - drawgun 0 ftw, we need this in DB too.

+one from me!

(Kl3ppy) #14

I dont think we will be able to hide the gun. Weapon skin will be a part of the moneysystem me thinks

(tokamak) #15

That makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.

That’s like Porsche selling cars who’s engines can’t be switched off because driving the car everywhere is part of the money system.

This makes me sad papapapanda. dah.

Your argument is invalid.
When there is an option to turn off the gun and you turn it off, you will never buy a weaponskin because you already turned it off. And if no one buys weapon skins because the weaponmodel is turned off, SD looses a income source. It would be kind of stupid to reduce your potential income on your own.

Personally I would love to see an option to turn it off but I could live with a weaponmodel when it isnt too huge and the size is small enough to not distract the player but big enough to see the different skins.

All my argumentation is based on the assumption that we will be able to buy different weapon skins. As stated, I would also prefer an option to turn off the model

(Ashog) #18

Your argument is invalid.

If a person is ready to turn off the gun model, why on earth would he buy a skinpack for weapon model, even if the model is forced on him? Maybe he doesn’t care about the weapon model?

I actually don’t (give me a wooden stick to shoot from, I wouldn’t care less. But I would buy a player model skin pack though

(tokamak) #19

By the same reason people wouldn’t buy special character skins because they can’t see the characters they’re playing.

People don’t buy stuff for themselves, they buy stuff to show it off to others.

+1 drawgun 0 ftw
