We NEED marketing!

BRINK is looking to be my top shooter this year, and I CANT WAIT ANY LONGER! how much are you guys still working on it??? could you cut the release date just a little? also, anyone i show Brink to loves it, but no one that i ask has even heard of it… you guys at Bethesda should get BRINK recognised better… release some more stuff on Xbox Live! hell, release all of it! no one realizes this game exists, and it needs to be noticed by a wider audience if you desinged it for a wider audience, don’t you?

(DarkangelUK) #2

As much as I may agree or disagree with you… ultimately it’s Bethesda that’s in charge of marketing and advertising, not Splash Damage.

(Herandar) #3

Marketing will appear in early May, same time (relative to the release date) as nearly every other video game.

The only current exception seems to be Homefront. THQ needs that game to be a hit, I think.

I’d rather wait a few more months for a quality game then have to moved to a closer date and be buggy and unbalanced.

Just my opinion though.

Normally i’d agree, but SP has been working on this game for a while, and couldent they just update regularly like TF2 in the Orange Box?

(Herandar) #6

You get your hats in May. It will be much better for review scores, metacritic etc, and therefore consumer awareness if the game is as polished as possible when it is first released.

(Ramziez) #7

No

We don’t need brink to start looking like this…
TF2 went from a fun balanced game to a giant fashion show.

(tokamak) #8

Actually Brink’s model lends itself perfectly for selling clothes to gather revenue. I have enough confidence in the art direction that it doesn’t turn into a Brazilian carnaval on acid.

(RumRunner) #9

the problem comes when the dev’s start adding in user-made skins as items… makes things too varied and thus far too hard to balance effectively… not to mention most of the skins that are “popular” enough to be made into items are generally some horrid-looking memetastic thing.

as a side note the stupid hats and such is pretty much the main reason i stopped playing tf2.

also updates cost $ to make and send out. part of the reason valve implemented the hats and such, so that they could get profit beyond the initial sale and increase the longevity of the title. personally i’d rather not see such things as they generally end up ruining the game…

that said i still say brink needs a flamethrower, or a flame-thrower turret for engineers…

(xTriXxy) #10

did i hear “marketing” ?

 its up to publisher, bethesda. I think, they favourite title is Rage, and Brink is on the second place. It can be because of credit ID software have. Maybe they have higher “credit” then SplashDamage, but SD is little beautiful star, full of energy and awesome ideas, growing fast, producing top quality titles only.

who is searching for quality AA title as Brink is, will find it. Answer is SplashDamage.

ps. where i can buy Splasdamage’s shares? ;p

(Auzner) #11

Buzz is the best marketing. Go spread it. Tell everyone you know who plays video games to not pass up Brink.

(gunzo) #12

I already am. Also, steam will do its part on the PC, be sure of that.

(tokamak) #13

Agreed, but SD isn’t doing that, they don’t even give players the full spectrum of colours so the clothing remains in line with the art direction.

(Herandar) #14

Damn. There go my dreams of a hot pink Security heavy.

(MrX) #15

Go www.quakelive.com and see the advertisements muhahah. Still i think its a bit soon to advertise a game. Some really nice vids explaining why you should buy brink and not something else is the way to go imo.I found a slogan also :BRINK IT ON!

(Iur'Tae'Mont) #16

I saw an ad this morning for brink before I left for work and saw an ad at gamestop after work. :stroggbanana:

(Auzner) #17

I should make my own ads. I’m going to need a lot of cyan paint. Or maybe get cyan construction paper. Yes…

(LyndonL) #18

I don’t think we need to market Brink any more… It’s certainly reaching the COD crowds - haven’t you noticed the influx of “those” types in these forums of late

(gunzo) #19

I’d say thats a good thing. Sure you’ve got a cozy little thing going here, but we need more people with some energy, sense of humor and the cohones to stand out.

(LyndonL) #20

Yeah ok, I’ll let you know when some arrive
