We need a KOTH mode

(JJMAJR) #21

By your logic though isn’t DB dead already?

(Herr_Hanz) #22

i would rather just see a domination(CoD)/Conquest(BF)/control point(Tf2) gamemode.

especially control points, its basically terminal first obj, but with a larger map, and 5 forward spawns instead of 1. shouldnt be hard to implement.

I’d prefer a generator-based Control Points/KOTH than this version with random point spawns and limited respawns in general.

(AlphaUT) #24

Hmm, if they decided to do it. Do we need to wait till 2030?

“Extraction” I love it… Nice reference to a more… Simple time.

(Xyfurion) #26

I swear to god I really want an SDK so bad.

(Mrarauzz) #27

Way better idea than execution. Why they went with a slow mode like execution over something like this, I will never understand.

I usually really don’t like KOTH, as it pigeonholes game strategy really bad. Since everything is fixed on maintaining control of a single point, one team has to stay on that point at all times while the other team tries to poke around them. Usually this means the attackers just pick explosive classes only and defenders get medic and bullet classes, then when control switches, you just flip the team composition.

I’ve never seen a KOTH mode in any game withstand more than a month of popularity. There’s really just no room for ingenuity when it comes to strategy.

A much more fun version of KOTH involves multi-point KOTH. Instead of taking 5 points one at a time, instead have 3 points to capture at once. Game lasts until one team has held points for x amount of minutes or gained some amount of points. The more points you control at once, the faster you gain time/points. That allows more strategy and makes players move around the map.

The devs realized this when they made the execution maps. Its why every execution map has two points where the C4 can be planted, otherwise it would be a total slaughter in the middle of the map. Again, I see KOTH working with the Execution maps, except the pylons are control points and not ‘Plant the C4 objectives’.

But Overwatch

(bgyoshi) #31

I don’t like or play Overwatch, hence why I still haven’t ‘seen’ it :stuck_out_tongue: Also nobody I know who plays OW likes the KOTH mode, they all play the objective push mode only… so my bubble still works.

The point of Execution mode is no respawning. The point of KOTH mode is respawning to take a held point. KOTH without a respawn is just TDM.

There is truth to that. Season 1 of competitive was almost nothing but Nepal to the point where I refused to play any games on Nepal outside of comp, lol

And tf2 before it.

KOTH in TF2 became a minority game mode within like 3 weeks of release.
