WCF, the chicken or the egg?

Anthropologically speaking, the first bird was hatched from an egg… so that settles that.

But… D9D had to raise a very serious issue.

He wants to know if EAC will be up to its task of weeding out the flagitious playing population, before Ranked II.

He’s absolutely right about it that if EAC doesn’t come clean, Ranked II will be tainted and it will be a very bad rep for SD.

what if the first bird reproduce like amoeba?

A bait title made to bait others into seeing this discussion which talks about an entirely different problem that may or may not happen.

@paramountGasoline a bit of intelligence required but here’s a corollary explanation

But in all seriousness, the order of events is a valid concern.

Firstly, it won’t be anywhere near as bad as the start of preseason. Cheaters will always be around, no matter how good the anti-cheat is or isn’t. With DB being a F2P game, as soon as they are banned they are free to make a new account an unlimited amount of times.

SD need to seriously consider raising ranked to level 20 to at least help combat hackers. At the same time they want to make Ranked seem inviting to newer players, but some players haven’t learned anywhere near enough to be playing in a competitive format at level 7, some even at level 20. But that’s another topic altogether.

If you come across a cheater and they’re on your team, try to do the right thing (I know that’s beyond wishful thinking) and kick them, maybe the enemy team will be nice enough to have a player sit and play 4v4.
In the end, you’re going to vs cheaters no matter what happens. Report them, vote to surrender and maybe wait a few minutes before re-queuing.

[/quote]I’m not so sure how that would help. Even if a player is above level 20, how do you know if someone was using Damage hacks? Silent aim? No spread? ESP? Or have you seen hacks that removes the fall off damage of weapons (Empire 9 short rapid shots and kills at FEL-IX SR distance)?

Well, that’s a bit extreme… It’s like surrendering to the fact that EAC is just as ineffective as NGS. And given the anomalies happening in-game right now (micro-freezes, lag spikes, out-of-bounds-error, etc), I think it’s worse.

Given the idea to roll with the influx of cheats, does that mean that Ranked Season II now is compromised even before it gets launched? And so I guess that getting ranked doesn’t hold it’s value then. I don’t think makers of EAC will be so easily give in to this premise; after all, if they can’t get this simple event sorted out, what good is high publicity event?

So, I got news that it’s on and as D9D suspected, RSII is rolling out first before EAC gets a grip on the bad players. I can very well see how this will go now. What I’m curious to find out is what is SD’s plan B strategy for player backlash. It’s seems like they’re taking a re-active stance rather than a pro-active approach to situation.

I’m suggesting that a minimum level of 20 will help with keeping cheaters from making new accounts and getting back into ranked so fast after they get banned.

I’m not surrendering to shit, give EAC time. It’s like you place anti-cheat on a pedestal, yet this is clearly not your first online game. It’s not the way this sort of thing works. Cheaters will always be making new cheats; especially when it comes to disrupting competitive play.
Honestly, I think Dirty Bomb has to be one of the least hacked FPS games I’ve ever played (even considering population) and we hardly need FUD before a much needed ranked revival.

(K1X455) #8

It’s been on for two weeks now and SD/EAC has been quiet about things. Meanwhile, cheaters are cropping everywhere. You can’t help but think if something is amiss when you’re playing legit and the blatant ones goes on rampage (that’s just the tip of the iceberg).

This isn’t even FUD. It was on last time and I was already there when the whole fiasco got inundated with hackers, so I steered clear of it and never took it seriously. I mean, how do you know the legitimacy of the match? How dependable is it?

(Cletus_VanDamme) #9

I’m looking forward to EAC getting updated for Dirty Bomb.

After a considerable break I’ve been playing a lot recently, yesterday a guy on Underground had some sort of cheat where he didn’t even have to fire, people just dropped.

To make things worse he was killing / reviving people (Revivr) who weren’t even in his line of sight. If that shit gets into ranked? Ouch.

(K1X455) #10

That’s even worse than the Empire-9 at FEL-IX cheat I saw! :o

I haven’t seen clear sight of cheater long time. Last summer there was this Kira, who I think used aimbot and wallhack in ranked. No matter what we did, we died almost instantly on trainyard. We tried to lure, sneak, throw grenades, everything. His KD was like 70 / 0 at the end of match and we had full team in teamspeak doing plans. Even enemy team suspected something suspicious.
