I have heard many of you talking about “watching replays” of your games. Does anyone know how I can do this as well? I’d really like to learn about the gae more, but without being able to asses previous mistakes from past games, I am left to ram my head in a vicious cycle of trials and errors. Any help would be appreciated, thanks in advance!
Watching Game Replays
you can record yourself with any number of software programs, but you’ll only be able to see your POV
Right now shadowplay is your best bet or whatever the AMD equivalent is. If SD ever get around to it you can use demos, but as of now they don’t work.
@Nail @Sleety I’m planning on getting a recording software for other purposes, thanks for the suggestions, but what I’m wondering is how some people can rewatch their games like what you’d have with CS:GO using Valve TV. Usually the replays give the players purple and yellow auras instead of the red and blue hues in normal games.
There is no tool which records a match for you to watch later on from different perspectives.
I recommend you to watch some Pick-Up-Games played in the DBNation servers.
Join the Discord whenever a veteran one is about to start and ask if you are allowed to spectate.
You could also have a look at the tournaments on their twitch.
You cant rewatch it in that way. The yellow and purple auras happen, when you switch to spectator mode during a game. Again, there is currently no possibility to record demos in any way. the only way to record footage is with a third party software and you will only be able to record your POV.
The demo record feature in the game only allows you to playback offline recordings. Some old info here.
Yeah… but that’s offline recordings, and another thing about that. That demo feature is literally super broken right now. Tons of tearing on any structures, it only records for one minute before crashing game or returning to the main menu. Tons of updates also caused the demo recording feature to not keep track of distance and map changes completely. So it will display the demo with a ton of broken textures after the MOFO update.
It was amazing at one point, and it is something that really should get a huge update so People can do announcing and spectating and stuff.

If you’re using OBS Studio, set your crf to ~17 for equal level of detail as Shadowplay.
You can only record monitor capture for DB because of EAC’s disabling of attaching or overlays to DB, thus killing performance of OBS.
Finally, you can press I believe “G” or it’s “F” to free roam or “God-mode” around the map while you’re in spectate mode. YES, even in a real live match. However, this means one team will be down a unit, which can often make you look like a dirt bag. Custom HUDs can also change colors of spectate and normal gamemode, in case you want to change the hues for better recording.
As far as I know, this is the greatest extent of workable methods for recording a match from different viewpoints, but in doing so, you cannot record your own game-play.
I hope I was of some use to you and your interests. Watching other people isn’t as self-teaching as experiencing and looking at different angles, but you can still learn a ton from other viewpoints, even of other people playing. GL-HF.[/left]

Thanks for the tip Xen. Should we start another thread regarding spectators and the spectating feature in general? I love this feature, and have used it a few times, and it does suffer from including the spectator into the 16 man slot that DB servers currently provide.
Alright, thanks for that x,c. Sorry for bugging you out for a bit. The insight is appreciated!
@AlbinMatt I mean… we COULD. I’m sure that some spectating views of games would be watched by some people. I was just giving the best advice I had for trying to get anything near different angles on a match, while being able to look at it later. I record DB, but have kind of stopped after the EAC update since OBS can’t lock onto game capture anymore, and monitor capture literally kills my computer. I frequently now hit around 30-60ish fps. When I used to never go below 100 frames per second on game capture for DB.
I’m just not sure how useful that thread would be to your average Joe.
I wish there was some replay system. Sometimes i get my ass handed to me by better players and it would be the best way to learn. See what they did from their perspective or see how i fucked up.

+1.
I’d love a feature, similar to Paladins, where I can spectate my friends as they play, and offer unhelpful advice whilst doing so.

You can do that in DB already, but only if you join in as a spectator, needlesly taking up slots for players, and you can use the in game chat when you’re dead (the only tim eyou can spectate other people). Also is Paladins good? I know that it’s more of a MOBA than an FPS,but I won’t mind.
