I know it’s only a warning but I think it’s the source of all the woes in my map at the moment.
I have two main problems…
-
Weird clips where there is nothing. Mostly this happens on terrain where I wall walk up a slope and suddenly find a clip that isn’t in the map in radiant. It’s as if the next terrain triangle is extending beyond it’s edge somehow. And sometimes I get a lack of clip. I had a stircase that I could fall though on one step. However, which step it was would change per compile

Faces disappearing seemingly randomly. It seems to randomly pick a face from a selection of faces and make them disappear. I deleted this small area of brushes that is affected and rebuilt them from scratch and the error has returned
It’s not entire brushes vanishing, just the occasional face. Funny thing is, it’s never a single trangle, it’s always pairs of trangles that form rectangular shapes.
So what exactly causes flipped triangles and how do I fix it?
I am wondering if it is to do with my water brush. My water brush also has fog properties and I noticed in another fog brush (which is now deleted) that it splits the terrain along the fog brush faces. So I guess my water brush is doing the same it’s just harder to notice. Is there a way to stop the fog/water brush splitting the terrain into a mess? But if it is this that’s causing it - then it doesn’t make sense. because the disappearing faces problem is nowhere near the fog/water brush
Perhaps they are two unrelated proplems.
I took the coordinates of a flipped triangle and attempted to locate it in Radiant and near as I can figure it’s a terrain triangle that is not inside the fog/water brush at all. But that was one flipped triangle of about 8.
