Warning and advice to other players in regards to the voice change glitch

(Galaxy) #1

As many of you will know, there was (and still might be present) a glitch that would cause your characters’ voice actor choices to be replaced by other ones. This issue is mentioned to have been fixed on one of the patches, but after I realized I had been affected I saw a problem: the fix only supposedly prevents it from happening again but if it has already happened, would there be a later fix to change the voices back?

Well, I posted a couple of threads on these forums and contacted the devs and the response was that they were still looking into this issue (to further prevent it from happening again I presume) but also that it’s unlikely that we will be able to change the voices of the affected characters back to the originally chosen ones.

So I’m warning other players that if they have been affected by this and continue levelling up their characters hoping there will be a fix later on, that possibility seems unlikely. If you really care about the voice your character has (as I do), then your only solution will probably be to start levelling the characters again, I’m afraid. But then I suggest that you also make backups of your save files every now and then, so if the glitch happens again you can revert to a recent save file that was fine.

Personally I’m very grateful that they answered at least to say that it’s unlikely because not knowing if it was going to be fixed or not prevented me from continuing levelling the characters.

This is totally funny, I couldnt care less for this issue. But theres other things about the controls that drive me mad. Guess everyones sensitive for other stuff…

I’d like if they allowed voices to be changed temporarily because that voice is starting to get on my nerves…

I know not everyone cares about this. When I had the issue I practically searched all the threads on the internet about it  And though there were people that didn’t care or didn’t even know, there were others that did care, some a lot but they were sure this would be fixed later on, it is for those players that I posted this.

I was expecting for them that if they were going to attempt to fix this issue it could only be by allowing players to reselect the voices as the original choice would be overwritten forever. But by their response it would seem they are going to keep it strict with the one-time-choice for faces, voices and tattoos. (unless they change their mind later on)

You would think they could do a one-time reroll for existing characters to correct this issue. But the iidea of an asian character stuck with an irish accent or black character with an asian accent is rather funny, so I don’t mind if they focus on the other problems instead.

I just wish they kept the voicing from early gameplay like britsh or Russian or American, or if they had a more variety of voices from different ethinic groups but they are just African or American sounding (no offence)

Well that was partly my reasoning, even if they devs didn’t want players to change voices whenever they wanted, it wouldn’t take much to at least allow to reselect them one more time. I would prefer that to have to start again levelling up of course (not that it takes that much time anyway), but it seems like they are struggling as it is to keep the game alive, so I just rather have them spend the time trying to fix the other important issues as quickly as possible.

I thought exactly the same, many of the voice choices seem to be slight variations of the same accent.

Frankly, I don’t care what my character’s voice sounds like but I find it strange that you can’t just change it. I understand not being able to change your facial structure or tattoos (lends a little bit of realism to the game I guess) but people’s accents have changed from a blow to the head or dental surgery.

Id like this fixed, but id also like more animated voices. Alot of the voices arent very different as it stands now.

Yeah, whatever happened to the Aussie accent?

In reviews a week before it was released they said the Aussie accent was the real deal.

But i can’t hear any voice from my home country.
