Warm-Up Time (Xbox 360)

(Nosferatu) #1

Hey,

So the Warm-Up has been reset to 1 Player required to Ready-Up on the Xbox 360 servers. I don’t know why, I didn’t visit the forums last week, maybe people were complaining.

I thought it was better when half the players needed to be ready to start the game. It was a great opportunity to change to the right weapons for the map in question or just to let the intro play and see everyone’s character. I think it was also better for synchronising all the players to a ready state.

Mostly when there’s lot’s of players now, half of them need to change weapons and aren’t ready for the initial rush on certain maps. This makes a big difference, because if you can’t stop the defenders soon enough, you end up getting spawn camped (e.g. Container City or Security Tower)

I would like to make an official request to return it to 1/2 or 1/3 of the players Ready-Up.

Thanks in advance,
Nos

While I personally think it would be ideal to have 1/2 of the players ready up a problem I have encountered is that some players are completely unaware of the ready up mechanic. Sometimes I sit in a “lobby” having readied up, getting people on my team to ready up, and waiting, waiting, and waiting.

Maybe if players only had to hit Start or A or something when it said Warmup in the top right corner of the screen that might make it easier or more apparent. Rather than having to go into a menu and hit ready up. I know it’s not rocket science and everyone should be able to do that, but problems still occur from time to time.

*Since it switched back to 1 player having to rdy up, do you know if it can be any player or does only the host have this option?

The ready up mechanic was so 2006 for console MP FPS games.

I think it can be any player, I’ve been the host on a couple of sessiens and I never tap ready first. Mostly I’m adjusting my weapons, checking the intro or just having a break.

I didn’t actually vote because I believe the warm-up should be a countdown.

I know that is contradicting a lot of what people have previously wanted, but a countdown with a delay quick-button makes more sense to me.

An instant warmup doesn’t allow ppl to pick their class/team/plan of attack.

A 1 person warmup doesn’t allow for the other players.

A half team warmup can make for some serious waiting for the Noobs or smart alecs who are mucking about or don’t know what to do.

A third team warmup is much the same as a half.

A countdown with a restricted delay option gives EVERYONE the same opportunity for readying up with the option for more time, but only limited option.

I also reckon character change should be available in the waiting lobby.

I know it’s not rocket science and everyone should be able to do that, but problems still occur from time to time.

And should we accommodate for these intellectually challenged individuals in this game or in society in general?

Answer:
NO, by accomodating we indulge in their reluctace to learn new things and this is a vicious circle which will leave us with a neanderthal society.
We should facilitate their learning proces, but not change our ways.

PS: I’d rather have intelectual gamers play this game anyway, this will give me more strategically challenging games.

AMEN TO THAT!

I have 6 charachters now, but I specifically upgrade each to one specific class. When you need a medic, I would like to change to my fully upgraded Medic

I am still fine with having to back out to get another character. It works fine the way it is. Imo. Makes it so you have limitations. Makes it tougher in that way too.

This might be the best solution, if it is even feasible. I just need a few seconds before the match starts to see how many humans are on the other team and maybe change class.

However, if SD can’t make a countdown timer, I would prefer it to stay as is. Maybe change it to where at least one person on each team has to ready up. Anything more involves too much waiting.

A 10-15 second countdown timer would probably be ideal.

I don’t have an issue with a countdown timer depending on when it starts counting down. I only need a couple of secs to change gear, but I like to see the intro and ppls characters.
I don’t think implementing such a thing can be that hard.
