Want my $30 back...
@OP You really sound like you were expecting a completely different game and a SP game at that. That sucks and based on some of the dev talks, I can understand the confusion.

It’s an attack and defend multiplayer gametype. It’s not like a traditional SP experience. Never should have been marketed as a SP experience.
Exactly. If you understand that this is really a multiplayer game, it’s not as confusing. The character is simply a point of contention. Nothing more. The “time restraint” was not on you as defense, nor was your goal to “kill” this character. On defense, your goal is always to prevent the offense from completing an objective.

Objectives in this type of game are to give more to MP FPS games other than he with the most kills wins. It gives teams a reason to play as a team. Look for no deeper meaning.

This.

You also have to understand that not every game produced is designed to be enjoyed by everyone. Just because you spent money on it doesn’t mean you are going to like it.

Furthermore, I read in your op that you have a 14 year old child? Then you are at least old enough to understand the value of a dollar. It is your responsibility to ensure that you are going to get the most bang for your buck. Rent before you buy. If you are on the pc, then read consumer reports, reviews, watch youtube videos (I watched Brink videos on youtube for about a week before I bought) until your eyes bleed.

It is your responsibility to know that you will enjoy the game before you buy it. Splash Damage or the game didn’t drop the ball. You did.
