Waiting for Balanced Teams... I wish.

So I was playing Old Skool on the 360 and played three matches in a row that were 4v2, 3v1 and 2v1. Seriously?!

A lobby system would fix this as it would not start until the match was balanced or at the very least bring in players to balance it. With the way the quick match is currently setup this is impossible as you cannot even find a server with 4+ players nor can you place a filter on your searches to find a populated match.

I hate to say it but Brink is all but a lost cause currently. I hope the PC gamers are doing better than the console players but unless you have a group of friends to join private matches or follow you into public ones the matchmaking is downright horrible.

I still have yet to find a match of more than 4v4 too. Pathetic. Besides, it’s not like I can search for a game with 8+ players or anything.

PC is fine, no problem getting full games, and when players leave the bot is typically replaced within a minute or two. Sometimes a big group will leave and the server becomes 8/16, and then people don’t pick in when browsing for a game, then I’ll just find a new game instead also, but it is fairly rare.

The only real gripe is that I can’t filter on/inspect server settings.

You think thats bad most the time when I play on PS3 in Competition mode the teams are rarely balanced. Most the time it is 5v2 or 5v3 typically with the defending team having more players for some reason (like it isnt already easy for them).

Then the match starts with teams completely unbalanced instead of waiting for them to balance out because the other faction readies up.

This is one the main reason a lobby system is needed. That and so that matches are filled with all real players and not AI for modes allowing AI.

Balance in PC is not good at all imo, map changes then people leave the server, it gets filled with 8 bots for some reason when splash damage sayd bots would only kick in when teams here not balanced, so what happens a lot of times is that you have a team with all humans vs a team with 2 dudes and the rest are bots GG you already lost the game.

Well what is weird is that the Old Skool playlist needs 1 required player to start but a minimum team size of 2 and has forced balanced teams enabled. How is a 3v1 or 2v1 even possible under those conditions?! Also, with forced balanced team enabled how does a 4v2 not become a 3v3?

(trigg3r) #7

can’t you switch teams midgame in consoles? like when it’s 4vs2 1 person switch to the other team and make it a 3vs3?

(Glyph) #8

I’m sure you can but no one ever does. Besides, what is the point of having forced balanced teams if it does not actually balance them?

(Got2ball) #9

Yea you can switch during game but not before next match which is stupid. Why would anyone want to switch sides mid match when your team already has the outnumbered team spawn camped and completely shut down. They should allow you to switch sides between matches until teams are balanced at which time it locks switching sides so people cannot switch at the end the match to winning side which I have seen people have been doing.

it really pisses me off actually on 360 as it’s hard enough to find a lobby of humans, but because the bots are literally placeholders all the time, i always find myself playing 2 vs 5 and it’s like no one can ever be fair or switch teams for a good game, all people care about is winning and it’s very annoying…i have yet to play a decent round with even balanced human player teams + bots.

my worst round ever that makes me literally not want to play this game anymore is, me and my bro went into a stopwatch match, it was 2 vs 5 humans against us…they couldn’t even attempt to even up the teams for a good games sake, and then we get pwned as hell on the security tower trying to escort that mofo up the ramp, game ends and we lose of course…but wait now it’s our turn! oh wtf? the whole other team left the match…they didn’t even give us our shot to play the round.

that’s another gripe i have in this game, no penalty for leaving in the middle of a round, in fact you’re still given exp for leaving…gg.

I thinks it’s a problem with their peer-to-peer matchmaking. I tried for an hour to find a game with more than one other person in it and found nothing. And I tried a variety of playlists, both freeplay and campaign.

I know some people have quit playing since release, but there’s no way that I couldn’t find anything over 1v1 without it being some sort of technical issue or bug with the latest patch. I’m going to try for a couple more days then submit a bug report.
