I have some bugs which make no sense to me what so ever, I hope you can help.

Here, some terrain is slightly offset, I’ve checked in the editor and it all looks perfect. It’s random everytime it’s rendered.

Here, the shadows are off. Any help appreciated.

What are you using to make the terrain? It appears to me that your probably not using the best method available…

In any case, I’d probable be thinking about the buildings and things before teh terrain.

Hi! Great work!
Did you know that you can stretch terrain textures (rock), to make it look less tiled?
Make sure to make a back-up copy (just incase). Then select many surfaces (Ctrl + SHIFT + left mouse button click on many terrain brushes). This will select just the visible faces.
While they are all selected, apply a nice rock texture. Then (while they are stil selected) hit “S” (I think) to get the properties. Click the vertical- and horisontal-stretch-arrows. Experiment.
Note: I use radiant version 1.4, not sure if this works for any other versions.

I’m using EasyGen and stated the terrain is in perfect form when looked at in GtkRadiant.

Thanks the advice Loffy.

Phong shading?

(Popcorn) #7

Thats not in the picture but I wanted to use that technique to get a smoother effect on the rock walls!

I finished my first task which I can tick off the list! Jahahahaa! Thanks WeeBull.

So You’re “Popcorn”…Mr.googler.

You need to plan your map before you make anything, especially before doing a terrain. So what is the layout for your map?
Apart from that: The huge numbers of triangles in your terrain will provide you with quite some tris-count. Did you think about how to divide the map into sections for vis-blocking?

I alrady have a map planned down at my end on paper. I can’t upload as I don’t have a scanner, but I can assure you I have a plan with all the objectives down.
