Voting anonymity?

(Press E) #1

This is just my thought on the matter, but I’d like to hear some other input as well. Should votes be completely anonymous or not?

Even when you could see who called the vote in the console, there was often a lot of harassment towards them. Someone calling a shuffle on obviously imbalanced teams would be booed by top scoring players, or a vote kick for a harassing player would result in the person who called it getting harassed as well.
Having your name displayed next to something like that tends to discourage players from using it when it’s needed most. Yeah, it also stops players from spamming votes, but what good is that if people hardly even call them at all?

Spammed votes don’t really pass anyways, so I just don’t see a reason to have public votes like this when it just results in harassment. You shouldn’t have to mute someone or whatever just to play a good match.

Voting was never anonymous.

(enigmaplatypus) #3

yeah but it did require effort to find out who called the vote. now everyone can see it

(Tanker_Ray) #4

effort???

All you need to do was press that little console key.

yes but most of the salt lords, non-team players, etc don’t know about the console

(Ardez1) #6

Why does it matter if they know? If they nag you, block them.

(enigmaplatypus) #7

i guess i just find it weird since db/nexon discourages player shaming, and yet they announce your vote to the world and open you up for harassment/shaming from other players.

What about it, if you got a valid reason why should you care if all see who started the vote?

The bigger problem is actually that people are too stupid to vote yes and i would love being able to see who voted yes and no.

Example: Today i played Objective at Terminal, we were attacker and blasted away that first objective quite fast, after the explosion one of the defender team instantly voted a shuffle. (surprise :smirk:)

Okay team were imbalanced so i didnt mind and voted yes. However, not the first but the second Shufflevote passed and both C4 were already planted by that time. (It as a 5vs5 by that time and 4 of the attacker were switched to defender side me included)

We managed to defuse our own plants thanks to the spawn timer kicking in instantly after the shuffle, if not we would have killed ourself quite badly with those c4’s.

Long text, what i initially wanted to talk about is a level 7 who was then, spamming the chat several times with “I FOUND A GLITCH”. After i died once i checked what he was doing and all he did was sitting above the stairs at defender spawn, which leads to the turret. He somehow jumped a little beside + above the door. So rougly said he was sitting right under the ceiling in the air.

So all in all he was there, doing nothing except for sitting in the air above the door to the turret in the stairway and bragging about his found “glitch” in chat. that he did for the remaining 9 minutes of the game. I kickvoted him with stating what he is doing in the chat but guess what, more than 3/5 Yes werent possible to get.

Things like this happen daily if not hourly and the whole afk/vote system needs more than just showing the one who started a vote in normal chat. (Console showed it anyways)

I agree. I think your right, the main issue is that people don’t vote. I guess where im coming from is that i personally don’t like having to deal with the aftermath of a vote failing and the guy cussing you (or a friend) for the rest of the game, however long that is. or they may try (and possibly succeed) in vote kicking you as vengeance and then you loose your credits/xp/time. I have also seen and heard of grudges being carried over several games. I think that voting needs to be anonymous and a requirement. anonymous to help stop individual targeting and a requirement because alot of people don’t vote.

I don’t really care if the team shuffle was disabled…But I have a feeling its disabled only for the first few minutes…

It never really worked as intended so I am actually happy its RIP. Last minute shuffles were very annoying.

(Nibbles02) #11

Yeah the problem is just that people don’t vote and this could lead to even less people voting. I’ve never seen a kick vote successfully pass before the 4th attempt except for on two occasions, one where I was kicked and one where someone was berating our lower level players for not being good at the game.

Both games had pretty medium-leveled players too, mostly level 20s and some 30s, so that probably explains that.

Its not totally fine at the moment because e.g. today at Underground my team planted the final objective and only 10 more seconds to go until the c4 would detonate. However, suddenly a vote shuffle appeared for the reason that the gametimer still had more than 5 minutes.

Vote shuffles should be aswell disabled if the final objective is planted or is at that moment in the action delivering. (Delivering like being given to the final objective and then boom)

Why is it shaming if you vote someone out?

Cause some people get angry at others for kicking a lvl 1 walking around in the first stage of the map and for some reason people care about what others say to them in a game, same reason why people want visible lvls to be removed so they don’t get harassed in a game :3

If you have a problem with low levels you belong in a min-level server. If you are ashamed at trying to kick a low level, why did you vote to do it? Stand by your opinion/decision.

(Jostabeere) #16

I don’t care much if people see my name when a vote is called-in.

(Equanimity) #17

If you’re a respectable player and the other people in the server know that, this feature could work to your advantage. It’s a double-edged sword.

(Press E) #18

Not so much in public servers. I generally top score in most games I play and I haven’t been harassed much at all, but this stuff still happens. And honestly I really don’t see my ability notably influencing how a vote turns out.

(bontsa) #19

I only cast votes I can stand behind on. As should anyone.

(neverplayseriou) #20

I like it, don’t have to open the console anymore ^^ atleast smthn positive from this patch
