vote system, friendly fire, dedicated servers, class restriction

(qjack) #1

oi,

  • most shuffle votes failed
more and more clans coming up, playing db (a good thing) but 95% of the shuffle by xp votes failed cause most clanmembers don´t wanna shuffle (one voted no and the vote failed). there must be success in voting with 75%. it is pretty unfair playing against clans in public and it is unfair using public servers as a trainyard (there´s a new private match function  ).

  • i don´t understand the discussion about friendly fire.
for me, in competitive friendly fire is a must (yes, there will be a lot of people get kicked for teamkills then but it is up to them. don´t shoot your teammates!). (i also prefer FF for public but it seems this is only to me)

  • dedicated server (yes, rental servers will do but in my opinion rental systems suck, most rental servers cost more but give less options)
if we have ded server, we don´t have probs like this. admins can enable/disable FF and set a class restriction. (no team needs more then 2 of each merc). clans can have own trainyards and warservers. public players will have more fun

Shuffle votes require 51% of the vote to pass now I believe. Correct me if I am wrong here @Faraleth

Hopefully FF will be deployed to competitive, but probably not soon as it might drive more people away from it. I would still like to see it happen personally.

While I would love to get independent servers/rentals, it has been stated multiple times that it isn’t in the plans. I really wish they would change their mind about this issue, as I know the community would thank them.

jup. i don´t know about the votes, but most i see is one votes no and vote fails. (some people don´t vote?)

51% of what? Of the players in the room? Or based on the ratio of people who actually voted?

That I don’t know. I would assume it was of the total votes. I will see if I can find the patch notes.

(Faraleth) #6

@Ardez Yup, shuffle votes are 51% requirement!

One thing I should also add (that a lot of people don’t account for, or think about) is that when you call for a vote, it takes into account the % of ALL players on the server, not just those who vote.

eg. If it’s a 7v7 server (and full), and 7 people vote yes, 1 person votes no - this will FAIL.

This is because the 7 who voted “yes” only make up 50% of the “total vote”. You would requure 8 in this instance to pass.

(Sterling) #7

The shuffle votes, as mentioned above, require 51%+, which is kinda annoying if your whole team votes yes and the enemy team agrees to vote no (because why shuffle on an easy win?).

Friendly fire, I personally wouldn’t like it on competitive. Lots of times people end up getting in the way of my Nader and get shot (I have the reaction time of a dead pack mule, I won’t stop before I accidentally shoot them once or twice).

Community servers would be really awesome. It’s noticeable how well they work with Source games, and I don’t doubt it would with this one.

Even when I’ve seen shuffles pass, they never seem to do any good. I’m a fan of just playing the game out one way or another. If I’m on a team that’s getting destroyed, I’d rather just find a way to flank and get to work, but some people seem to just hit the shuffle vote every time they die at the start of a game.

I’d also love to know the metric used to measure “skill” when shuffling, or if it is legit just a random shuffle.

(B_Montiel) #9

Shuffles are currently useless. Since the game shuffle the teams on every map changes. And since the last update which, from my point of view, improved the team-balancing nicely, if a team is getting a good edge, it’s mainly because the majority of the opposite team (attackers generally) are building sand castles at a remote location instead of playing the objectives. And shuffles are specifically started by those who prefer to do crap than winning.

(Enzo) #10

The games started let’s just go. I hate this shuffle vote crap because say if I push as an attacker and nearly won the game the idiot shuffle votes now I’m defending really all that work for nothing.

If it shuffle votes then the game has to be restarted simple as that. This is why fix matchmaking so we don’t need to use stupid systems like shuffle vote where the opposition who is stacked or is in a clan will not vote :dizzy:

(Runeforce) #11

I can imagine the trolling with friendly fire in comp pugs: ‘Hahahahaha. You asked for FF and you got it bitches!’ and ’ Hahahaha, Yes! Quit the game and get a two hour penalty! Hahahahaha.’

(Pecka) #12

Again, few good complains, and only stupid shuffle vote being talked about :D, people don’t really understand what is important.

Dedicated or rental servers is a must + allow for community maps = community engagement = community growth. I don’t understand how they can believe this game will keep bringing players and grow the community, with the current state… Ahh they have the cure, new execution game mode! just lol…

And enable the freaking friendly fire already >D, I feels like being some kind of idiot playing without it (spam spam, keep the trigger pulled, spam spam)

If you don’t vote you don’t get counted, that’s how it should be.

Might make people actually click a button oh boy.

Abstaining from a vote and voting no are two very different things. Votes shouldn’t fail because a new player doesn’t see the vote progress bar or hear the sounds.

It’s understood there is a difference however.
If I make a vote, only the people who VOTE should be considered, because with the current system, it’s saying that if people don’t vote, then that means they don’t agree which isn’t true.

If I call a vote in a 8v8 server in which only 5 people vote. 4 say yes, 1 say no, it doesn’t pass because since others didn’t vote it counts as a no.

So with the current system abstaining from a vote means no.
