  1. Balance with player levels.
  2. Balance with player kills/min.
  3. Balance with xp/minute.
  4. Balance with mercs in squad.
  5. Balance using accuracy.
  6. Balance with Playtime. (BTW playtime =/= level or experience if farmed)
  7. Balance with consistency.
  8. Balance is OK, no need for change :smirk:
  9. You tell me.

One great way to fix shuffle, for balancing 2v5 kind of matches, is to reward the person who switches (saw this from HAWKEN). Let the best votes be implemented in the game. :lol: I highly doubt it, but who knows :wink:

If you want to balance a match you need to
a) pick players out of a player pool and make players in the match static
b) have as many stats available and calculate an aggregate skill rating out of those

(hint casual matchmaking)

Server browser and vote shuffleing is a flawed concept which won’t work no matter how hard you try.

Don’t take it too complex, no one likes long queue times. Maybe something implementable in public matches. Or let people choose teams, and disable all shuffling unless for unequal number of people.

You can have either no balance and no waiting times at all or balance and a few seconds of waiting time. Those 2 options are mutually exclusive, pick wisely.

  1. Balance players based on current game score
    a) Player skill should only be calculated based on the players currently in game, not past games
    b) Vote shuffle should cause a shuffle of only the top 3 players on each side

  2. Implement autobalance
    a) Automatically shuffle the lowest scoring player to the other team if teams are ever +/- 2 (Ex: 4v6, 5v7, etc)
    b) Don’t shuffle players with less than 100 xp in this way

  3. Remove the “Switch Teams” option entirely
    a) Do this only with the release of public matchmaking

  1. Levels don’t mean skill. I once saw a level 6 Vassili rek’ing everyone on the server and a level 2 Skyhammer once topscored, he gave ammo and got a lot of kills (not the same server, it happened in different days and servers and they weren’t cheating)
  2. I’ll just say 1 word on this one: Medic
  3. This one is good but I’m pretty sure it’s already used
  4. What do mercs have to do with skill?
  5. This one might also be nice, but it’s unfair towards people that play sniper and people that play SMG’s. MOA accuracy will always be higher than a hochfir one
  6. Playtime, just like levels, doesn’t mean anything about skill
  7. Idk what consistency means and too lazy to google it

So except 3 I don’t think anything else will work. And I’m pretty sure 3 is what we already have used for shuffling
But balance problems should go away when casual MM is implemented

The balance system has already been written about hundreds of times in what the system uses to balance the game currently. Which is based on the players who are currently connected to the server and their hidden skill rating that is given to them based on performance in their last 25 games. Ranked uses a simple win/loss system where you are matched up with people in your rank bracket (or at least attempts to do that).

The upcoming casual MM system is going to use the entire playerbase as it’s pool to make matches and people will still be given a private rating for that matchmaking. So instead of trying to balance games based on who is on the server it will balance games based on the numerical value assigned to you when you queue up. This won’t create fully balanced games since blowouts happen even among evenly skilled players pretty often. But you will be playing consistently with other players and against other players who are similar to yourself in skill. So it’s a step up.

Then of course user owned servers are coming. And those can be balanced however the owner/admin feels. I am looking forward to these the most.

One thing that makes the balance even worse is server browser, as far as I know, almost 0 person in my friendlist uses quick join (20+ friends)

I would actually suggest when new system arrives, SD would remove server browser since new system provides the feature of being in the same team with friends. @Amerika

This should make new system even more useful since all players will use it

They are not going to remove the server browser because it will still be used for community servers. I am also guessing that they might host some of their own servers as well.

But but but if I don’t want to stay all the match? If My team will get spawn trapped all the match?
Every match my team gets spawn trapped for more then 3 minutes I leave. If my team has noobie snipers I try to kick them first and if that doesn’t work I leave.
I came here to play a game, not to watch kids play or not to get spawn trapped in a game like dirty bomb, that is Meant to be a fast paced game, not a slow spawn camping simulator no? no?

How many disagrees can we reach?

New system is not current system. New system, according to the information that shoe had provided, it will be able to put you in a team that has same skill level compare to the other team. So the situration that u think would happen should not be exist or much much much less occure when the new system arrives.

One element for new system to balance the team better and reduce the time to find another team is players. It is more balance and less time to find a match if 100% of players are using it than 70% of players.

They are not going to remove the server browser because it will still be used for community servers. I am also guessing that they might host some of their own servers as well.

I understand, but could SD hide normal servers ? I know DBN servers need password. Also the private match is another feature for players to play against friends. Moreover, players can follow their friend if the room need more players due to some players left.

There won’t be “normal” servers to join anymore unless they decide to keep a few around (DBN servers for example). The servers you see in the server browser now, outside of maybe a few, will be completely turned off and that hardware will be used to power the servers for the casual MM.

And yes, everyone knows there is a private match option. That is good for quick scrims between teams who don’t have access to a dedicated server and hopefully that remains to be an option. However, those aren’t 24/7 community servers which have their own appeal. You can’t build a community around a private match server but you can around 24/7 Chapel only Stopwatch 10v10 named “24/7 Sh`t Show”. As as that would be it would be for a lot of us you can bet it would be filled almost all day every day. You then build some forums around it and suddenly you have large communities built around multiple servers. Some of my best memories in gaming revolve around servers like that.

I forget who said it, but they said that they would leave the server browser and keep 7v7 and 8v8 servers there (which also happens to be what I enjoy playing in although I don’t care too much about that).

As for balancing, I’d like to see level balancing for each game. I get that people say it doesn’t equate to skill, but experience does add skill as well as an advantage of knowing more about the game and little tricks. I’d just like to see how it would work out, like a test day or something honestly.

But of course that’s still not the best way lol

The True Answer :
Balance is an illusion :smiley: .If all matches were “balanced” then all matches would end in a draw. People need to contribute instead of talking about balance, this game is a heavily teamwork based game, so if teamwork is bad, doesn’t mean balance is bad, balance is only needed when there are more players in one team. Lose or win, its on you, and everyone on the team must think that. Now stop talking about balance and help them noobies out. SD can probably make that tutorial a mandatory for them newbies so that they can play better. No SKIP option please.

Set a limit on a certain type on merc in a game. Played chapel stopwatch against 4-5 kiras.

Literally spawn trapped with lasers…

This cannot be done in pub matches. If I couldn’t play a merc of my choice because a bunch of lvl 10s were play it I wouldn’t be happy…
