Hopefully i am not the only one who admires the VW Beetle, but there it is :slight_smile:
Any suggsestions comments, more then welcomed.
If all is well and done, i’l release it as a static model. No point in escorting this kind of vehicle :tongue:

I’d like to thank Avoc for showing me the light to better texturing and everybody who commented and gave ideas how to improve the textures or models.

oh oh… me wanted to make one for my current map too :stuck_out_tongue: had the idea from one screen of newwolf(which i dont liek btw) and i knew i must have it too ^^ +loved a particular picture of a Typ87 (& 2 a lesser extent the 82e)

btw… where can i download your models? inluding the older ones… on your site i only found info and pics

Why dont add the africa corps logo on the volkswagen, replace the swatiska with the normal iron cross like in WolfET? Would be more authentic…
The original logo looks like this: http://tinyurl.com/lkcavu
http://tinyurl.com/5ej2fc

All in all you made it good!

(shagileo) #10

@ Saadi: because I don’t think it’s allowed to put the original cross on the car (some German servers replace all posters, textures … etc with that cross and put in another symbol)

@ Pega: I don’t think I need to say that this is another hit. You’re on a roll , great job!

Thank you all for the comments :slight_smile:

@aaa3
Other vehicles (besides seafire) are not downloadable. The planes will be downloadable after capuzzo airport is released and tanks will be after animations are done.

@Saadi
I think i already have that, but check it out just incase.

Here it is, the downloadable version of Volkswagen Type 87

The Volkswagen will be soon on our website too here but if anyone can support with other links too, would be nice.
:slight_smile:

I hope you all enjoy it, sadly it’s not made for escort, but who would want to escort the Beetle anyways? :tongue:

(Avoc) #12

You have to make an European Version! :smiley:

@Avoc
I’d love to make an European version, but i wont have so much time anymore to deal with it sadly :frowning:
Perhaps you can do the European version if you have free time?

@Shag
Thanks for the mirror m8, how long do the files stay up there?
You made a small typo, you wrote beatle but it should be beetle. :slight_smile:

(nukits) #15

You should make something like this :stuck_out_tongue:

(Avoc) #16

It shouldn’t be so hard I think. Just press “ctrl + u” in photoshop and turn down the saturation to make the texture greyscale.

If you want, I can take a look at it.

(Pegazus) #17

I think there is a Volkswagen Kubelwagen model already somewhere, i saw it in Quotidian.
I am sure someone knows where to get that model too :slight_smile:

@Avoc
I thought about it too, but it will be a bad effect. There is a better method to get greyscale that looks more realistic. Or the other method is to use variations.
Modify - Adjustments - Variations or something can’t remember.

You can give it a try :wink:

(shagileo) #18

@ Pega:

:o oops, small typo indeed

The file stays there as long as people download it, but when it gets inactive, I’ll make another mirror and keep you notified then. (don’t worry, it stays there pretty long :wink: )

wow, nice the little :smiley:

Nice work. It’s hard to provide much comment not seeing the back. And with so few pre-war units surviving I have only seen a couple of photos and TV program where they drove one out of the museum. But here goes;

  • Back side: make certain the rear window is divided and quite small like this later model. And there could be only 2 rear lights like this model 82 variation, no light over the license plate.
  • Tire rims - there would probably be 5 bolts from later pictures but I see 10 holes in your pics. Don’t know if the rims had an extra 5 holes so I guess its OK.
  • A set of blackor grey textures would be nice.
  • I suspect the headlights would have been masked to prevent planes being able to see the cars at night.
  • Good choice with afrika colors on this one they found these cars worked well in the heat (BTW I don’t think Sd.Kfz. 234/2 ever saw service in Africa in WWII though its predecessors were there).
  • @Saadi I have not seen any photo of the NAK seal used except possibly for a quite small symbol. More visible and what I think could be used legally is the divided D (sometimes looks like a B) of the panzer division in Africa. (took me half an hour to finally find a NAK seal on a vehicle, could not have been common and very few vehicles had Nazi symbols most had the cross.)

And if somebody wants to model something how about a BMW motorcycle with side car and MG42 and spare tires.
