Voice Overs

(Xerxes) #1

I’ve been tring to create some Voice Overs for a Custom Map with a few audio softwares but I can’t seem to get them to be anywhere under 200k in size and no where near the 60k or so from the originl game.

I’ve been trying to record them 16 bit, 22khz and mono.

Any helpers out there? How did they get the ones ingame so small?

:blah:  :drink:

Thanks for advance for any help!

Well, the majority of the ones included with the game are encoded with a bit rate of 532 or 705 kbps. And their sampling rate is 44 kHz. What bit rate are your sounds encoded at?

Edit :

Gotcha, was recording in 1411 bit rates. I just spend 20 minutes in Cool Edit Pro to find an option to set this, couldn’t find it. Can anyone recommend me a proper program that can?

When in Cool Edit I do everything at 44.1 stereo…you can do mono if you wish. Then choose Edit in the drop down menu…convert Sample type…choose 22050 (22k) as a sample rate…mono channel with a 50% mix and 16 bit resolution. You can also use F11 as a hot key.

I will also use the batch file convert so I’ll produce dozens of 16 bit stereo 44.1 files…use the File drop down …batch file convert…use same attributes.

Cool Edit is a great program for file conversions and dithering.
