Voice Actor Credits?

Hey folks, I sent SD an e-mail a couple of weeks ago but I didn’t get a reply yet, so I figured I’d ask you genius people here. Any way to find out the credits for the VAs? I really love them and would like to familiarize myself with more of their work/keep an eye on them.

In case you’re wondering why I’m asking, I’ve been doing amateur level voice work myself for about four years or so now and I’ve always taken huge inspiration from games like this where dialog is largely one-liners, call me cheesy, I know I am. I swear I’m not just here to plug for myself hah, I adore this game, but if you’re bored/morbidly curious I’ll pop a little link here where you can hear for yourself. BONUS ROUND: ALSO, I saw NuclearSharkhead was posting the voice clips for the taunts, I left him a comment on one of his videos telling him I’d adore him for doing all the Mercs and maybe doing even more than just the taunts, but the same goes for anyone else who might be clever enough for it. I’m definitely not the only VA who draws inspiration from this stuff either, so it’s not just for me! Plus a lot of times I’ll get a script and the person doing it will say something like “Think of this guy’s attitude” or whatever and send me a link to character voice clips, so that kinda thing made public can do some good, both for other people and maybe even this game’s rep.

I was thinking this earlier, because I am in love with the personality in Phantom’s voice for example… Vassili too. All the mercs have such great voice acting, and it really brings so much genuine character to them. Definitely would like to follow a couple.

Well folks, according to this imdb page, we can at least know Skyhammer and Proxy. Judging by Skyhammer, it looks like they may have modeled the faces after them, maybe very slightly at least, and I think that’s radical, but if this game is using likenesses of folks then having credits for them is even more important if you ask me.

But still, I’m sure there’s a full cast list somewhere, I just can’t find it within the game, on the game’s website, or on Splash Damage’s website. It’s probably right in front of my big dumb face too, but I just cannot find it. Do community managers like our very own @MissMurder have any ability to get info on this from those cool dudes?

I for sure don’t think Splash Damage would want people to be unable to see credits. I noticed on their staff page there wasn’t really any audio people, which led me to noticing that their positions for audio (Head of Audio, Senior Audio Designer) are presently open. Still, even with that, somebody did the casting so somebody has a list, right? Heh, maybe Stoker got a little fired up one day and burned the files.

And you know, maybe I’m just impatient and the full credits list will be in the final game. Hah, I’m sure they have more on their plate for beta features than credits.

I’m probably wrong, but Phantom sounds like the guy that did Handsome Jack’s voice. Minus the pretzels of course.

Then again I was sure the actor that did Proxy’s voice was the girl from Residue.

I did send a private message a bit ago to the community’s very own @MissMurder, and she did get back to me saying she’d look into the matter. Proxy WAS on the imdb in case you’re curious, and Skyhammer was too, but they were the only two on the imdb, and to be truthful my strongest bet is that a formal cast list will come with the full release of the game, or maybe a few patches down the line or something.

For me that’s totally fine, I’ll just be happy if I get it eventually for MY unimportant uses, but as a voice actor, though only amateur, I think that I’d feel a bit odd about it if people were having to go way out of their way to find out my name after hearing a character I voiced, even though the product is already being consumed. Especially since in all the stupid little amateur projects I’ve done for like the past four years, there’s never been a crediting issue like that, so if I was doing something like Dirty Bomb where it’s kind of a big deal I might feel like “The hell? This is how the pro league rolls?”

Like I said though, Splash Damage has always been great with this and I have heard that one or some of the devs did some the voices themselves (which I could see reasonably lessening their priority on it even further), so I’m sure this is merely a brief passing oversight or something. One day this thread will be looked back upon as a dude who was asking for way too much way too soon or something. Thanks for commenting!

They really did base the looks of the mercs off of the actor’s looks, wonder who’s Rhino’s voice actor.

I think Phantom is Troy Baker, but I can’t find anything to back that up. Nice find on Fletcher, didn’t have a clue with him! I kind of feel like Brits will appreciate it more when they look some of these voices up, I can’t imagine Holby City was a big international hit haha.

Thank you Backuplight! We had Skyhammer and Proxy on the Dirty Bomb’s IMDB itself, but the rest were completely unknown to me! And thanks to NuclearSharkhead for Fletcher as w-- Oh my God it’s NuclearSharkhead-- Go back to making awesome videos! Anyway, hopefully an official full credits list will save anyone the trouble of having to dig too deep for any roles. You folks are the best.
